Hey folks, have quite a lot of 14k jewelry which i don't like wearing at all, thinking to unload it...where do they pay fair value for it these days? Thanks in advance.

Lots of places will buy it from you, but you may be very disappointed in what they offer. 'Fair' isn't really in most gold buyers' vocabulary.

Better stay away from the "infamous" Harold and Russell. The two clowns on TV. Although you don't see Harold much anymore. Russell"s son is now in the biz in Oakville. Try selling privately ie Kijijji. You might do better.

Thanks everybody, I'll certainly stay away from the clowns on tv.

Thanks for the link Rob, I'll check them out, if they pay what they say that's pretty fair imho.

Another suggestion:

If you like gold jewelry, just not THIS jewelry, see if a jeweler would be willing to melt it down and fashion something you like better.

I was quite surprised with the offer I got from one of those cash for gold places. I brought in a 1oz 9999 gold bar to see what they would offer. The market value was 1400 and they offered 1260. Not too bad and they really wanted it but I declined for now. On other hand, I brought in a 18k gold ring, worth 400 dollars, offered 120, no thanks.

Well ya, the bar is already in the form it will be sold in, meaning even if the markup is relatively small, its quick, easy money. Chances are the ring will be melted down, which means time and labour

When it comes to selling an item, any consumer items, you either agree to the daily market price or a limit selling price where you would accept a LIMIT LOSS. If you decided that its time to get liquid cash from your 'assets',then you need to establish an 'acceptable' market price (after shopping around with various gold dealers, for example) in exchange of cash. It is always come down to how desparate you are in acquiring the cash for your asset. Do you have time on your hands or do you really need the cash for other purposes? Again, whenever you wanted to sell something you should SHOP AROUND for the best possible selling price at the time you need the cash the most!
