There is a lot of crap coming from China, but that is because there is little profit per item in some cases for the manufacture. The dollar store that sells the low quality items make .25 cents, the importer makes .25 cents. What is left is for the manufacturer that has to pay shipping, taxes and duties. If you pay for quality you will get it. The quality items that come from China are Computers, ipads, iphones. Canon DSLR cameras ad many commercial and industrial components that you are not aware of.
When I was younger, I knew a guy with a Hyundai Stellar, what a piece of junk. Look at how far Hyundai has come. The car industry is moving into an era of change. I have read that the business model that may be used to get Chinese cars on the market is one price for a lease with insurance, maintenance, and full warranty.

I just checked the internet and found out an news article that states that Volvo S60 cars have been shipped to the US since late 2015 and they were intending to ship the S90 from China as well. There have been Chinese made cars in the US for years.

I had a very interesting lunch with an engineer friend of mine. He was telling me about his trip to China and the Chinese cars that he saw. He tells me that these cars are made in brand new modern factories by robot and they will rival any western car available today. Quality wise he is confident that they can stand up to anything available in North America. The electronic and structural components are the same ones you would fine in Japanese, American and European cars today as many manufacturers source parts from China. There are a few cars that are made in China and are being sold around the world at this time. There is already a luxury Volvo SUV that is being sold here and there was a Ford Focus that was cancelled because of the fear of Trump's tariffs.
Most cars today have Chinese made components. There is already a Chery SUV selling in California for 2/3 the price of a similar American SUV, but the Chinese SUV is fully equipped and warrantied up the Yin Yang.
It is expected that they would probably lease these cars for 3-6 years fully warrantied for a much lower price than other manufacturers. If the quality was there would you drive a Chinese car?
No...Never!!

The last thing that China invented that was any good was gunpowder. Everything else is just a copy or a bootleg or generally just garbage.
You don't buy things from its inventors. It is better to buy them
from the lowest cost manufacturers.

sure, you'll have to buy a new one every 3 months
Honda's are among the best cars now, but going back to the 70's and 80's they were rust buckets.

I am sure they will have a learning curve, like the other manufacturers and will go overboard to make sure address any problems at first.

Then I am sure once they build a reputation they won't give a shit about their customers like Honda now.

In a place far, far away
Just about everything is made in China. Nobody second guesses it till you bring up cars.

Like a previous post said, everything is outsourced these days. Nothing is ever 100% built by 1 company.

For the people who dont really understand politics, the TPP agreement that Trump DID NOT sign but Canada did is all about Pacific rim countries bringing in their shit to our country. As long as its produced in those countries, our laws are not applied as its not made here. They can use as much toxins in the food and as much child labor in their products as possible with no consequence hence the cheaper pricing.

see, Trump is actually taking care of business for his people.
Maybe you should move to the fuck everyone USA since you have such a bromance with Trump who put a rapist in the Supreme Court.

They were all rust buckets back then. When I was younger I got hand me down cars from the family ( GM ) that were pretty rusty after 5 years. It cost over a billion dollars to design a new car, so any auto manufacturer is a multi billion dollar business that can not afford to sell an inferior product. Any Chinese car must meet the quality and safety expectations of the public. They will have to appear on the market with a competitive product.

Nothing in this world will last forever... LOL

4 or 5 decades ago, people didn't want to buy Japanese cars and other products because they said the products were inferior in quality and workmanship. So they said and bought lots of American, Italian, French and German automobiles and products.

4 or 5 decades passed and in nowadays, American, Italian, French and some German automobiles have been crap, unreliable and low quality. On the other hand, the Japanese automobiles have been in the top for reliability, quality and workmanship. My dad used to own French and Italian cars and used German vehicles about 4 and 5 decades ago and I remembered they had all sort of problems and frequently were fixed in the auto mechanic shops. I used to own American cars for about 1.5 decades and they had all kinds of problems.

In the past 2 decades, I have owned a couple Japanese cars and I love them all. There hasn't been any problems with my Japanese cars may be some small issues with wearing.

My prediction that in about 2 to 4 decades from today, the Chinese automobiles will be one of the top quality and reliable automobiles considering their huge resources in money, technical and engineering people which they have produced in large numbers every year.

The Chinese will be taking all over the world in many areas in the next 2 to 5 decades as what the American has been doing in the past 7 - 8 decades after the end of the World War II.

I read an article a year ago saying that Peking is now having more billionaires residents than in New York city for the first time ever in an entire world's history. New York city used to have the most number of billionaires residents in the past many decades.
