Yeah, in the real world cars and pedestrians frequently come into conflict because we're all hurrying too much and rules that are all over the place.Yep, in a perfect world with no traffic and no time constraint. In the real world it will add up a lot to traffic.
The only ones who are worse than pedestrian in following the rules are cyclists. If only we were able to get them off the road.Yeah, in the real world cars and pedestrians frequently come into conflict because we're all hurrying too much and rules that are all over the place.
Maybe if everyone's GPS would stop telling people to make Uturns this madness would end.
100% agree. And people are so quick to do it. They're so quick to do it, that they hit it before even assessing the situation and figuring out who is at fault. Or before they're fully out of danger. I've seen someone dodge a bad move by another driver, lay on the horn, flip the guy off, then rear-end the guy in front of them. Get your priorities straight, people!Your horn is to get someone’s attention Ann alert them of danger. Why do people think they have a horn to signal their displeasure at someone else’s driving. Don’t be one of those guys.
Signalized intersection with an advance green.I avoid doing u-turns in intersections for the most part, but it hardly "fucks everything up for everyone" unless you're doing it wrong.
There are two scenarios where it might fuck things up that aren't the fault of the U-turner. One: there's a guy trying to turn right into the lane you're pulling a U-turn into. Unless they have an advance right (which likely means U-turns are prohibited at that intersection), they are actually obligated to give way to you, but no one is watching for a u-turn, so it can get hairy. Even though the obligation is on them, I'd suggest not ever trusting that if you're pulling a U-turn in an intersection. Two: the guys behind you are playing follow-the-leader, which is NOT something drivers should be doing anyway. Follow-the-leader is what causes a good chunk of red-light running. People are set on autopilot, just blindly following the person in front of them. When someone is doing this in the left turn lane behind a guy pulling a U-turn...it breaks their auto-pilot, which upsets the lazy fuckers!
I didn't think that they were legal either. Back in ancient times when I got my license, U turns in Ontario (as far as I recall) were not permitted under any circumstances. I was not aware that the law had changed.Even if they are just turning left across 2 lanes of traffic on a busy road at rush hour I get pissed off. Drive around the block you c*nt. I didn't think U turns were legal anywhere.

Yeah. I really don't understand how it affects the car behind me if I am doing a Uturn in the leftmost lane. I think maybe they don't know U Turns are legal. Never had a problem in the States, as everyone does it.Nothing wrong with a U-turn if there is no one coming towards you.
The people honking behind you have tiny insignificant brains to go with their tiny insignificant lives and honking gives them an instant of power before they’re back to their tiny lives.
In my home state of California, cars pull U-turns at intersections constantly and everyone is fine. Too many insignificant people on the roads in Ontario.
So who's house or business are we bulldozing for bike lanes? The only ones who are worse than pedestrian in following the rules are cyclists. If only we were able to get them off the road.
In Ontario I believe they are always legal unless posted otherwise.Same issue with no right on red signs. Sometimes allowed, sometimes not allowed.....
100% on point . . . . .Your horn is to get someone’s attention Ann alert them of danger.

Exactly. I can see if I were making a u-turn in the right lane (with two left lanes turning left) how that could be dangerous because it crosses into the left lane, but if you're turning from the leftmost lane, it affects no one. Yet the car behind me will sometimes honk. I always wondered why.Of course this is not something that is allowed: this move is similar to turning left from the right lane when the left lane can go straight. However, the truck in frond of the guy in the car with the camera can do U-turn without any inconvenience to others. U-turns from the most left lane, if not specifically prohibited, are always allowed and pose no danger to anyone
Absolutely bang on!!! If you are going to make a U-turn, have the common sense to to ensure no one is turning right from your left.I rarely do U turns. You need to keep an eye on the opposite side traffic and the one turning right from your left. I would rather make the left get into a plaza and come out at the opposite direction. But then again tardiness isn't one of my concern so I don't have to rush.
It affects drivers turning right from your left!!!!!Exactly. I can see if I were making a u-turn in the right lane (with two left lanes turning left) how that could be dangerous because it crosses into the left lane, but if you're turning from the leftmost lane, it affects no one. I have a feeling that they are primarily women. I've noticed that women are 90% the ones who honk the horn for no good reason.
