This reply should be framed for posterity.

And I don't mean that as a compliment.
i will pre-empt your silly little posterity idea
Carney wont follow Pierre Ps cost cutting plan, immigration plan or most importantly his planed elimination of the Bill C-69 and an exceptionally foolish industrial carbon tax is most defiantly Carneys to wear

Carney also now has two huge constitution problems to deal with AB & SASK , that are strictly liberal driven

if two cash cow provinces start down the independence road because of an election win by a specific political party, that political party has failed its responsibility to govern equitably
the globalist net zero agenda has failed in Canada

Bill C-69 / all carbon taxes have got to be scraped

frame away for all the good it will do you

I really want to address this one because it's the one point you make that is demonstrably nonsense: AB and SK -- and let me be clear -- CANNOT separate unilaterally. All the other provinces and House of Commons MUST agree to let them go, and there's basically no chance of that happening. What options do they have? None.

Also, when I hear someone bitching about anything to do with the "globalist agenda" I want to smack them. Know what a non-globalist country looks like? North Korea. That's the most non-globalist country on the planet.

]Look, we can all agree that the Trudeau government mess up immigration, especially the TFW program and to a lesser extent, the International students program. What they did was make housing more expensive and made it hard for Canadians (especially teens) to get jobs in places like Tim Hortons.

That sucks. And, now that they've reversed course, colleges and universities across Canada (especially the ones who really recruited international students) are slashing programs and courses...which does suck for them because Ontario (and other provinces) won't allow them to raise tuition fees..
high time they slash bloated administration and useless programs
we do not need more lesbian dance or environmental zealot graduates. there are no jobs for them

But, the one part of the immigration problem that not many people are addressing is Canada's demographic timebomb. We have an aging population and a birthrate that is well below replacement levels, let along growth. We need younger workers to help support the elderly (in healthcare for example), as well as work the jobs of the future. And, let's be realistic, having a large domestic market would help build Canada in several ways.
we can trust the ones who screwed up the immigration system to fix it
the entire liberal economic platform has based on bring in more people
now we need to focus on improving the productivity of all of our work force
So, what I'm saying is, we still need to a pipeline of immigrants to help build this country. I know there are several righties out there who just want white Europeans to be the main source of immigration....But, that is not the case
.

stop the racist narrative
a housing shortage does not care about skin colour

But, I still think Canada's points system for immigration is top notch, and should be continued. [/QUOTE

do not be ridiculous, the liberals took a functioning immigration system and they broke it

And, the provinces should forces their regulatory bodies (like the College of Physicians and Surgeons) to make it easier for foreign born and trained doctors to practice in Canada. Why are we wasting talent like this, forcing them to do shit like drive a taxi? Especially when we need more doctors and nurses...
I agree we will need far more doctors and nurses, however we do need to be careful about qualifications

The bottom line is that we need a solid plan. One where we get the best and brightest immigrants to come here and help build the country, even settle new areas. I mean, one of the potential benefits of climate change is we could see more people living in the North. Of course we would need to massively invest in infrastructure to make that a possibility.
the liberals took a functioning immigration system and they broke it
immigration needs to be dialed back and very targeted towards skills we need
that is not the liberal plan, they will just set a number based on current excessive population

bullshit
if this was the case there was no issue with the Quebec separation referendums and there was no need to bribe Quebec with massive equalization payments or cow tow to Quebec on every issue

if AB and SK want to leave they will leave
what are you going to do send in our depleted army with their 1970s equipment?

it is well past the time that you start to figure out that the liberal party has alienated Western Canada to dangerous levels

Also, when I hear someone bitching about anything to do with the "globalist agenda" I want to smack them. Know what a non-globalist country looks like? North Korea. That's the most non-globalist country on the planet.
you do not have a god damn clue what you are taking about
NET ZERO IS MOST CERTAINLY A GLOBALIST AGENDA- the liberal party was willing to sacrifice our oil and gas industry to virtue signal to world - hey we eliminated less than 1% of the harmless global emission- we impoverished our country by doing so, but hey everyone in the global needs to get on board
MASS IMMIGRATION IS MOST CERTAINLY A GLOBALIST AGENDA

In an astonishing statement to the New York Times in 2015, Justin Trudeau declared, "There is no core identity, no mainstream in Canada,'' and consequently that "makes us the first post-national state."
that utter stupidity is MOST CERTAINLY A GLOBALIST AGENDA

if Canada had no core identity, no mainstream in Canada, there would not have been outrage and extreme insult in response to the 51st state bullshit offer

wake up

Well, it's clearer to me now more than ever you're just some old man screaming at a cloud who is largely influenced by American right-wing social media.

Blocked.

PS: AB and SK are going nowhere.

I see, you run away when faced with the hard code facts
I have been aware of Alberta dis-enfranchisement by the liberals long before social media
Justin's daddy Pierre Trudeau started in in the 1970s / 1980s

again just explain why we bend over for Quebec and shower them with money if a province CANNOT separate unilaterally?

coward
good riddance

PS: AB and SK are going nowhere.
PS you have no say in the matter , you already cast your vote for the liberals

AB and SK will do what their citizens want

Caney could scrap bill C-9 , eliminate the industrial carbon tax and his globalist agenda if he truly want to unit this country

Yup, Carney want's to cap PR at 1%.

That doesn't sound so bad right? Well, let's do the math.

Canada's population is around 42 million. At 1% that would be a cap at 420,000. That's still ridiculously high. What the hell are these guys talking about?

This is literally Century Initiative BS that we would get from Justin. The more info that comes out, the sleazier Carney becomes.
Based on what do you consider it high? 420K a year is not gonna REMOTELY get you close to 100m by 2100, for that it will take 800K at a min.

How did you arrive at that number?

I think any number would be just a guess. In the end
it is not the number but the quality of the immigrants
we are bringing in that matters more. If we are bringing in
only the most qualified the optimal number could be way
greater than 25k.

For me a number falling in 250k --- 350k for the next few
years seems reasonable. It is of course only a guess which
is subject to revision upward or downward depending on how
well our economy is doing.

Do you have in your mind a number that is more reasonable?

It's a good number. Average birth rate is about 350,000, for a 1.26 replacement rate. 250ish puts us at the 2.3 range, which is replacement rate necessary. You could put it up to 300,000 say.

600,000 was easily double what was needed. So drop in to 250,000, and then add on. Take in too many and you have problems.

It's not like we don't have a crapload trying to get in.

I think the 420K is pretty close to your 350K upper limit.
May be they want to account for those that leave Canada.
I don't have a number to give you.
As long as it is directionally correct, which it seems to be, I am open to correcting it up or down later.

I don't think population replacement rate is the sole or most important criteria.
I think economic needs would be the key driver.
In any case I don't think there is an exact science to this.

It actually is the majority driver. And considering the volume of able bodied workers rotting in Niagara hotels right now, with no work, I'd say we should get them housed and employed first, don't you?

Sure, reach out to healthcare professionals, and give them update training and incentives. Bring in construction trades. Import tech workers and get start ups in Canada.

But for the next three years? Let things settle in, and bring in primary those ready to go to work. We have a points based system for a reason. Trudeau ignored that and here we are.

In summary, I'm in agreement with Poilievre, we need to straighten things out first. Carney is also framing the discussion just like with debt spending. Don't forget, this is still roughly Justin's policy (395K).

There's so much more I'd like to say, but too many trolls here.

It is one of many factors but I am not averse to accepting it as the major driver and will take your word for it.
I also had to look it up, and it is not 420K, it is 395K in 2025, 380K in 2026 and 365K in 2027.
I think those are fair targets.
Not as low as you'd want and not as high as we assumed earlier.
A bribe between the two and I think Carney is on the right track.

We must stop the corrupt LIMA and student programs, and deport all those fake Hindu students, fake refugees crossing from the US, fake Ukrainians and Russians that are also holders of passports of their central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan and Timbuktu Stan.
And Carnie can have them all at his residence, and they can have his ass.

One of the reasons why you lost the elections is MAGA BS like this.
But I think you voted PPC am I correct?
That was never going to win anyway. So carry on.

I was eventually going to get to this too. Non-permanent residency "lowered" to a 5% cap.
