Crimes like this always remind me of poor Barbara Turnbull. A teenage student working part time at a variety store, she was shot and paralyzed by 4 robbers. She actualy complied with their demands but they shot her anyway.
Poor guy stood no chance, he was lured, about as premeditated as can be.
There are jobs that serve the public which carries risks that those of us working behind the scene do not face. Delivering food is one of them. Driving a taxi is another. Working in a convenience store like Barbara Turnbull did is another. The risk is you never know who will get into your cab or walk into your store.
When I was in university I had a part-time job delivering meals for a restaurant. My biggest concern was being robbed. (Of course, then there were those ladies who would open the door while naked.

I was in high school when it happened and I remember we had fundraising events to collect money to donate to her(she was a student at a different GTA school).Dude, I've never heard of her until now. I don't know how I've never heard of this, but I haven't. What an incredibly sad story. Passed away in 2015 from pneumonia
Yes... These guys will often carjack an inexpensive car and use it to commit additional car jackings of more expensive vehicles. Unfortunately, driving an ordinary car doesn't make you safe from these criminals.
What we need is a few incidents where the car jacker losers try to car jack a car being driven by another car jacker loser, they have a shoot out and eliminate each other out (then all their moms sue the city since they were good boys and were forced to carry guns and behave like dumb idiots)

His mother, Narinder Kaur, killed herself in Punjab after learning of the news, said tribuneindia.com.
Nath, a food delivery driver from Brampton, was working in the Britannia-Creditview Rds. area of Mississauga just after 2 a.m. on July 9 when he was carjacked and injured.
He died in hospital on July 14.
“His mother Narinder Kaur was reportedly not informed about his demise ever since. As she got to know about it today ahead of the arrival of his body late this evening, she could not bear the shocking news,” tribuneindia reported Friday. “She died by suicide by consuming some poisonous substance even before seeing her son’s body.”

Have enjoyed eating at just desserts a few times, many many years ago.
Some major differences between “back then” and today. The biggest being the cities population. While not 100% sure, most crimes are going down when accounted for population. Two, our justice system.

So much is different. Biggest being the influx and growth of street gangs. They were virtually none existent “back then”.
Maybe, when we start thinking more about them. And not races, not who/why, or this or that………………pretty sure she didn’t care……..maybe. We as voters can convince politicians to focus on what needs to be focused on…
Am, actually pretty surprised, pleasantly so. Discussion in this thread seems more focused on the victims. Actually very surprised some of their names are being remembered for a change.
