Part of Highway Traffic Act.Interesting. Try looking up the role of the DOT before criticizing someone. I didn't make up my statement.
Also, when I google your referenced section, this is what I get:
Colour coating obscuring interior
(3) No person shall drive on a highway a motor vehicle on which the surface of the windshield or of any window to the direct left or right of the driver’s seat has been coated with any coloured spray or other coloured or reflective material that substantially obscures the interior of the motor vehicle when viewed from outside the motor vehicle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 73 (3).
Where did you find the 70% reference?
Google passenger light duty vehicle inspection standard.
A pdf file is available for download.
Search tint within the pdf.
I cannot opwn it on my phone atm but it is there.
Open up file on desktop
Page 76 and 77 and 78. There are dates that apply to this law depending on vehicle manufacture date.
Regardless tint or not to 2 side and front window. Keep distance from vehicle in front.
Busses are not tinted and yet you cannot see through their windows due to their height.
Does not mean you can rear end a buss or that they should make them lower to ground so you can see through them.
Keep distance, look out for brake lights when directly behind.
Perhaps in future DOT standards they will mandate a front camera with a plasma tv on the rear of everyones vehicle so rear vehicle can see ahead and have time to stop.
This is assuming your brakes are in good working condition as required by vehicle inspection standard which is part of the Highway Traffic Act and enforced by Police.
