New car stereo and amp installed. Now have a whining sound coming through the system. Increases as the engine speed increases too.
I imagine something in the wiring? Whats wrong and whats the fix?

Bad ground, might need to A find a better place to ground the amp or run a 4 gauge wire from the engine block to the ground wire-make sure the engine to frame ground strap is in good shape.

If thats not it, could have some bad spark plug wires.

All else fails, a noise filter might be needed.

Does it do it playing CD and the radio or just the radio ?

Make sure the amp input level is not set too high.

Yup, sounds like a ground problem. YOu said you had this installed? where might I ask? Because any installer worth his salt would check the system before releasing it to the customer.

You will probably need a filter on the power line as well.

Where is the amp mounted by the way? How the speaker wires, rca wires etc are run also can pick up interference from the ignition system too
