Hi All,

Im in need of a new car battery (size 51R)...any suggestions?

I was thinking of this one from Crappy Tire because it has a 3 year replacement warranty and 10 yr total warranty.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Wayne

I've been using a Die Hard Gold for my truck for a few years and it's verrrrrry powerful! So much better than the Motormaster that I bought before for another car.

Have a car that used to eat a battery every year or two. Put an Energizer in there five years ago, still going strong (Yes, a car battery).
I park the car for the winter, disconnect the battery and have never had to recharge the battery even for spring restart.
Higher compression, high performance engine.
Price was good too, if they are still available. Found it at Walmart of all places.

yes
Interstate is a great quality battery. They also make many store brands. I think sears and walmart are Interstate. Not fully sure but do a little research and should be easily found.

A couple of C size ought to do it lol

BTW: did anyone see that Monster Garage Episode where they built an electric car run only on power tool rechargeable batteries? Was kind of funny.....

I bought one of those spiral cell things for one of my cars, it did go bad after a year or so, took it in and they replaced it.

I just had to get a battery for my other car, went for the Eliminator (1 step below the spiral) which has a 3 yr - 9yr warranty. They have a deal where for 10 dollars you can extend the free replacement portion to 6 years for only $10 more. Most batteries don't last 6 years, if you plan on keeping the car it would be a decent deal.

the brqand of battery probably won't matter most are the same if not manufactured by the same companies, ie Canadian Tire is manufactured by a major and rebranded, just make sure it fits properly in the tray and the tie downs are wworking.

Can't beat CAA. They'll come to your house and install it right in your driveway. The price is right too.

Gotta be a member though.

How long do you plan on keeping the car? If it is going to be a long term thing, don't go cheap. All batteries (from reputable retailers) are sold with a pro-rated warranty of some kind.

For what it's worth, I had bought a CTC battery a few years ago for my summer car. Took it out of the car for the winter. In the spring, it was depleted and would not take a charge. CTC replaced it under the warranty. Next winter, I put it on a trickle charger over the winter to keep it topped up. Same thing happened. I cut my losses and bought an OEM battery, no problems since.
