No, we shouldn't.
1) It's not cheaper. A plethora of studies have shown that executing an inmate is far more expensive that incarcerating them, once the court costs are factored into it.
2) It gives the state the right to kill us when we break one of their rules. Some of those rules are rather specious, and rules change. I don't like that, and nor should anyone.
3) Plenty of innocent people have been killed by the state due to a flawed system, racism, flawed evidence etc etc
4) It doesn't reduce crime. In fact, states with the dealth penalty are typically more violent and crime-ridden
5) Its hypocritical; "Don't kill...or we will kill you
6) Steve Earle is against it, and Steve Earle is really cool
