Are there any registry cleaners you don't have to pay for? Even if it's a trial period? I don't wanna spend $50 on this...

Looks like when you start adding the hidden cost of Windows problems like this, it starts to lose its price advantage over Apple.

Anyways. Keebler, if you fix your issue, let us know what the resolution was. I have two friends on Windows with the exact same problem.

Not really.
This is more of an annoyance than anything else.
Besides M$ being so massive in scope, there must be plenty of 'help forums' for M$ to ask on this issue. After all there are very helpful forums for Linux and EVEN Mac out there for solving buggy problems. Therefore there must be even more for M$....

Forum or not, it's been several days and the problem is not resolved. Not much utility there. And what if Keebler is an entrepreneur? Then the cost of this issue increases dramatically.

To be fair, I wish some researchers did a complete TCO assessment.

UPDATE

Dunno what happened but I tried to reinstall the program today and for whatever reason it worked and the program is now running. The old icon in Control Panel is gone and replaced with the new (and correct) one.

So problem solved!
