no no. not to wake up Gary.

it means are fuckin ticket prices are too high, that's all.

I go to Pittsburgh and get the best seats in the arena for $125 (just a 4 hour drive). San Jose $79, Phoenix $65...

It's not as huge a discrepancy as the article makes it sound. Six teams out of 30 is 20% and they're bringing in 31% of live ticket revenues. Pretty good but not outrageously high.

Are you kidding me? It is absolutely fantastic. The only team trailing a bit is Edmonton. Compare attendance figures amongst yourselves.

There are many American-base teams that make very good revenue as well but there are many that are losing money hand over fist. All of the Canadian teams are very strong.

I do not have the revenue figures but the second link as you all well know is that 11 of 24 U.S. based teams either had revenue-flat ot lost income.

It gives everyone a pretty good indication that it might be time for a couple of teams from the U.S. relocate to Canada.

What more proof do you need?

What I find interesting about the survey is that they are only talking about ticket revenue. What about television, national and local? What about merchandise? When you add in what the Leafs and Canadiens make on these items you would have to think that the percentage of revenue would be closer to 40% for the Canadian teams.

Also the fact that most American teams have more then one major sports teams and that results in ticket prices being lower to compete could have something to do with this survey ...

How about if the NHL dumped some of the lost causes like Nashville and
Coyetes and had a smaller league then these stats wouldn't be so extreme ??
The NHL could get rid of a few teams and still have a couple of teams relocate in Canada. This is why the salary cap was introduced. Isn't it funny that after the salary cap was brought into the picture, the Leafs have not made the playoffs! It just goes to show that money needs to be properly managed and not thrown away carelessly.
