Heaven, definately Heaven
Canadian Dollar at parity with the US Dollar. $1.003 George W. Bush Jr. and Parker's wish for an Amero is coming to light. Will the Mexicans save us all and avoid 10 pesos to the USD?

Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. same same. Father Monkey, son Gibbon. When the Democrats are in 100% power, expect a VERY strong US Dollar when all the global corruption comes to light.

Vote for the Liberals! And support to impeach George W. Bush Jr. and Dick Cheney at the same time!!

99.99

The Canadian dollar traded as high as 99.99 cents (U.S.), a hairbreadth's away from parity.

I don't see that happening. As long as we import everything from toothpaste to dryers to cheap cars our trade deficit is going to keep the dollar low.

Loonie hits parity

For the first time since November, 1976, the Canadian dollar is worth the same as the greenback

Just hit $1.000002.
Got a question, obviously when purchasing US dollars or products, it's not EXACTLY on par. How much less are we talking when a transaction occurs?
Two, three pennies?

If you are exchanging money at a bank, don't forget they have a service charge for the transaction.....a percent or so I think.

Since you've asked questions about ebay, I'm assuming you're referring to those purchases? Paypal does NOT charge a fee for the purchaser. They take the equivalent directly from your bank account or credit card. So, at par, if you bought something for $12.00, you'd have $12.00 Cdn come out of your account.

Speaking of ebay, I can see the number of Cdn shipments from US sellers jumping dramatically now.

Be careful with online buying.... major credit card companies have their 'own' rules for setting the exhange rate they want. You'll lose money on CC purchases in USDs when your CC is a CDN one.

One wonders how this is going to affect the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Certainly many industries in Ontario are heavily dependant on exports to the U.S., and one must wonder that as other destinations have become financially more attractive whether U.S. tourism to Canada is going to take a real hit this summer as well.

Right now its getting interesting for those doing some amateur arbitrage, both Canadians wondering whether is still too early to invest in U.S. funds and Americans invested in Canadian funds wondering have we reached the top of the market.

Paypal charges 2.5 percent on Canadian/US transactions. It's listed on thei website. I think Credit Cards could be a slightly better rate.

I have a few buddies who work in the film industry here and they said that work is drying up and times are not so great right now only look to get worse.

While I'm loving the strength of our dollar right now, I worry a bit about some of the industries here that rely on American business...
