Canadian Comedy: McLean & McLean

Does anybody remember a Canadian comedy duo called McLean & Mclean? I think they were from the East Coast. They were 2 brothers who sang folk-style songs that made fun of many things in Canadian culture.

I saw them twice in Toronto in the Eighties and they were one of the funniest, most enjoyable acts still to this day.

McLean & McLean were not for those who are offended easily. Their humour was crude, tasteless and raw. I cried from laughing so hard.

I did a search on them but cannot find anything. Does anyone know how many albums they did or if there is a web sight related to them? Is anyone else familiar with them? I heard one of them died a few years ago.

Thanks for your assistance.

I'm pretty sure you can still buy their stuff but I must admit I'm having trouble finding it. Probably CD exchanges are your best bet.

Thanks a lot for the info.
I remember hearing "Taking the O out of Country" and "Suck their way to the top." I think they created what later became "the Champ" on Q107.

The goys were not from the East Coast, but Winnipeg - which, come to think of it, is even funnier. One of the guys died a couple of years ago, but I remember him well. Backstage once, my wife and I had a long, funny but sensible and pleasant conversation, and after a while she said: "This is really nice - you havn't said 'fuck' once."

His response: "I never say 'fuck' unless we're getting paid."

Cheers

Theres many different ideas on who created "The Champ",some say it was former 80s morning man Brother Jake Edwards, others say it was Andy Frost, thats the first time ive heard McLean and McLean were involved.

It was Gary "Big Daddy" McLean who died of cancer about three or four years ago. Prior to his death, he was a DJ on an oldies station in Winnipeg.

I saw them in 1976, I think, at the Chimney (above the Gasworks). Fukkin hilarious! Of course I was 18 and very drunk at the time.

To the original poster: You'll get a few more hits with the spelling "MacLean & MacLean", but nothing really useful.
