Russia treats its own citizens even worse.Almost half of the latvian population are ethnic Russians that are treated like shit in Latvia. Latvian government is keeping generations of ethnic Russians stateless even though they have been living there for 4 generations. How do you expect Russians to react ?

Latvia is a democracy and the majority of Russians have Latvian citizenship. The rest are eligible for citizenship of they want it and they learn to speak Latvian.Latvia isn't a democracy because generations of ethnic Russians are kept stateless and not allowed to vote or to work in government. Also they have to pass a biased anti-Russian citizenship test where they have to acknowledge soviet crimes. A lot of ethnic Russians wouldn't accept to be held responsible for this.

We are talking about people who immigrated after 1940. There's a clear path to citizenship for them that they have chosen not to follow.Have you noticed that we aren't talking about immigrants but people who are living there for 4 generations? Also FYI Canada doesn't require language knowledge for anyone born in Canada also elderly applicants who are over 64 years old are exempted form the language requirements
