Now..is everyone suitably outraged.?.you guys should have more of a problem with the plea bargain system...1st degree murder means premeditation..perhaps the crown was not sure they could prove that..so they plea bargained it down...having said that..what worm would smother a child and then burn the body..there is alot of really gutless evil people in this world.

the death penaly just creates 2 deaths instead of one. 2 grieving families. 2 tragedies.

Perhaps this guy who plead guilty is racked with guilt and remorse. Can you imagine how he must feel knowing he killed a little kid for crying. Perhaps he will make a great effort to control his anger in the future and become a productive positive person.

Let's hope he does feel some remorse but you know what, that won't give the child back his life. You seem to have some sort of mental block that makes you incapable of seeing that A 10 YR sentence that means someone gets out in 4 yrs for murdering a child in not justice . That child lost at least 60 years of life. Why don't you answer the question I asked before , if you get 4 yrs for murdering a child what should you get for raping a 4 yr old girl and murder.

the death penalty cannot be administered consistently or rationally - this is clearly seen in the U.S where the death penalty remains fraught with arbitrariness, discrimination, caprice and mistake!!

OK but I am still in favour of the death penalty. Given a choice I'd rather have it than not. I really don't understand your rationale with regards to arbitrariness? discrimination? caprice? The only one I get is mistake. Yes it is a tragedy to execute the wrong person but what percentage is that? 0.01%? And please. . . PLEASE. . . do not try to tell me that the administration of the death penalty is a racist thing. You do the crime you should face the music - no matter what the colour of your skin - and I wish and hope that one day in Canada that music will include a chorus about lethal injection. 'Nuf.
