I try to do all of my bills online, but i don't think this would work at all. Especially for bills and for instance taxes owed, they are quite strict and don't care if you are late paying because your mail was delayed, you get charged interest.
I guess it depends on the bill, but I don't get anything with that tight a time line for payment that getting it all on a Monday for example, would cause issues.

Here
This is the entitlement of Canadians. We don't want to pay more taxes but we continue to want the service we'd always had. Sorry folks, it doesn't work that way.

Canada Post is undergoing tremendous change due to technology and competition. They can't afford to deliver to every single home like they could in the old days. Far too expensive. Jacking the price of mail doesn't solve the problem because that just makes them more even less competitive.

So either we pay more taxes or the services gets cut. You decide.
If it Canada post your talking about then cut away Its a useless out dated organization employing lazy incompetent self entitles workers who think the country owes them a job. Rather than cutting costs and streamlining the business they just keep raising prices. And your wrong CP doesnt SUCK because if they did they might actually be usefull .

They need to get rid of daily delivery. Deliver mail to residents once a week. Deliver to every home not just older homes. Any mail sent to a residence can wait a week.
Of course some of the savings would be countered by lost income from junk mail (don't know where the break even point is).

Twice a week is done in other countries.

My main beef with private courier service is that they ring your bell once, wait 5 seconds and then leave a note that you can pick up the package somewhere in the wilds of Mississauga. .
+++1 you got that right!! The U in UPS stands for USELESS.

Perhaps I'm lucky, but I've never had a problem with Canada Post, UPS or FedEx (I've had business supplies shipped by my company to my home office using these services without any problems).

So a question here: which service would the good people of TERB recommend for parcel delivery?

With all of the big companies, you end up relying on the whims of the delivery person which in most cases works out well but there's always exceptions.

For shipments from the US, I insist on USPS/Canada Post though simply because the ridiculous brokerage fees of the other companies.

They have been totally incompetent for at least the last 2 decades. When I ran a company I would never send anything by Canada Post, it would at best take a week, and often not arrive at all. Last year, I was sent 4 letters from a company in Markham. 2 arrived. You are taking a chance every time you send something by Canada Post instead of using a courier.

I am for the third option: sell off Canada Post without any monopoly
Don't forget unprecedented mail fraud.

We've had mail intercepted and our cheques forged. Also didn't receive cheques due to interception.

So bad that we had a York Region cop canvass our business neighbourhood about experiences.

Residential delivery once a week. business delivery daily. People running home based businesses will need a post office box if they require daily delivery. The savings to Canada Post would be huge.

Canada Post announced today second quarter loss of $31 million, compared to a year ago profit of $53 million. This is just their core postal operations, not including the profits of their other 3 subsidiary companies.
