Exactly! It's not like we have a quarter million homeless Canadians and 1 in 4 families relying on food banks. That would be different.lolWhy do we send foreign aid? Because we can.
Maybe I should delete that. Just to be safe. loldon't give him any ideas

We do. Poverty isn't a blanket fund that money can be thrown at, but when it is (the symptoms of poverty, specifically) it's almost completely at the Provincial level.why don't we help our poor?
You're incredibly out of touch with reality. We do. Poverty isn't a blanket fund that money can be thrown at, but when it is (the symptoms of poverty, specifically) it's almost completely at the Provincial level.
Nationally it's mostly policy choices, like tackling inflation, oligopolies driving prices up, trade imbalances/tariffs that raise the cost of essential goods, jobs getting shipped overseas, etc that can affect change.
Let's be clear here, none of you actually care about poor people, I've seen enough of these handles on threads advocating AGAINST the poor. You just don't want 'your money' going overseas. $10B over 5 years is ~$240 per person, so just pull yourselves up by the bootstraps and make that extra $300 (or whatever the new right-wing slogan is).
By some measures , it’s definitely third world. It does not give me any pleasure to say that. Unfortunately, the blame lies with the liberal government. You may not like this statement but it’s true. Just sayingAlmost?

It’s 10B per year. Not 10B for 5 years. It’s on top of other shit. It’s a slap in the face. This is what you get when career politicians are in charge. Optics is what they care about. Not actual results or consequences. Most Canadians would be against foreign aid and for directing that money internally towards Canadians that really need it. Where is the democracy on that issue. We do. Poverty isn't a blanket fund that money can be thrown at, but when it is (the symptoms of poverty, specifically) it's almost completely at the Provincial level.

absolutely right I don'tYou just don't want 'your money' going overseas.
Look at it this way, right wingers are always complaining about the threat of legal and illegal immigration.absolutely right I don't
the money sent abroad ends ups in corrupt politicians hands
they are just robbing us blind and you are too naive to notice
liberals are a perfect mark for these con artists
but you are not investing in anythingInvesting in that is cheaper than building walls and using ICE to become a police state.
So what? We don't want our money going overseas. It's our money. If you have to spend it, and when does a government not, spend it here.Let's be clear here, none of you actually care about poor people, I've seen enough of these handles on threads advocating AGAINST the poor. You just don't want 'your money' going overseas.
You are still investing in making other people's lives better so they don't become so desperate they have to leave and try to come to america or Canada.but you are not investing in anything
corrupt politicians in those poor countries are stealing that money
have you seen Haiti? or any third world country for that matter
look at their leaders and then look at the people
Everyone, please forgive Franks ignorance. He still thinks that foreign aid goes to the people. LOL.Look at it this way, right wingers are always complaining about the threat of legal and illegal immigration.
But if you want people to not leave their homes you need to help fund countries so that they don't become shitholes, run by despots, plague ridden or even climate change disasters. Investing in that is cheaper than building walls and using ICE to become a police state.
