my situation is I used to work 41 hrs/wk cause we used to be busy. but my contract was 37.5hrs/wk. My hours were cut from 41 to 37.5 in december and now for about 7 weeks , my hours were cut from 37.5 to 30 hours. It doesn't look promising. I mean I make good money but I work hourly and the hours aren't there anymore. Can I ask for a lay off? Would u work the 30 hours for the sake of having a job? What would u do?

30 hours a week with good pay at a job you like is far better than no job at all.
Even if you did qualify for UI... you would still be financially better off with money you're making now... even at 30 hours.
