you fool.. You should know better than that. I've read on a few places online that Calcium can be bad for women and their heart... Lately my mom has gotten sick from high blood pressure and she thinks its from eating too much salt but I'm suspecting it might be from the CalciumYou gotta be kidding?
A single line on a prostitution website without any more information and you are going to call your mother to tell her to stop taking calcium?
DO NOT LISTEN TO ANY MEDICAL ADVICE OFFERED BY ROCKSLINGER!
Caltrate is a brand of calcium CITRATE that is more bio-available than cheaper forms of calcium carbonate.
Health Canada recommends 1000 - 1200 mg of calcium a day for women over fifty. Each Caltrate tab is about 240 mg IIRC.
However, having said that, she should indeed get a normal physical and if she is over 50 ask for a Bone Density Scan and an blood test for "osteocalcin" levels. Then her Doctor can give her proper advice.
I bet she does not take more than one tablet a day and that is highly unlikely to cause any arterial calcification.
This ^Reading shit Rockslinger posts on TERB can waste (my) life!
Actually, just to clarify... Caltrate is a brand name for calcium CARBONATE, not citrate.Caltrate is a brand of calcium CITRATE that is more bio-available than cheaper forms of calcium carbonate.
Thats because most people consume refined salt. Refined salt has been stripped of all its important trace minerals, and therefore causes a "mineral imbalance" in the body.Salt is bad. Period. If you are like any of us, you probably eat out a bit and have prepared foods. That will exceed most people's salt intake limits right there! If you shake salt on everything as a habit, it is really bad. You can to some degree reduce this by drinking a lot of water but simply cutting out the salt shaking habit can do a lot
There are some other factors at play as well. Southern China gets more sun than northern countries, hence more Vitamin D. Also, the typical Chinese (although this might be changing) is usually thin and very active especially in rural areas. And yet it is in these affluent countries where
Osteoporosis seems to be more of a health problem than in countries like
China where daily consumption of milk is a luxury to a large part of the
population.
Will do. Muchas Gracious.Interesting that you notice the connection. Peripheral neuropathy can be caused by low blood calcium. And other things like undiagnosed diabetes, so have both checked.
Are you a doctor? Why is your name in a different colour from others? Our nervous system relies on calcium, magnesium, potassium and other minerals as electrical channels to transmit information and commands. Such function is the primary role of calcium in our life. If our diets do not provide sufficient calcium to our blood, our bodies will scavenge calcium stored in our bones, making the bones porous.
After a certain point in our lives, we get more and more unable to replenish our bones stockpile of calcium so ensuring adequate daily intake is more important as we age.
You're soda right with the first two.
Paging Dr Pepper, paging Dr.Pepper!
In the last 3 months i've often been eating a small or large bag of potato or corn chips daily to try to help with lubricating my BM's since i've occasionally had serious problems there, including very difficult & painful BM's & a surgical removal of flesh/my ass due to a blood clot about a year ago. BTW, I'm on a very low fat diet, e.g. drink low or no fat dairy milk or soymilk. Perhaps using regular metamucil would be a better option than the chips?Salt is bad. Period. The shoes haven't changed in the last year or so, nor the weight more than 5-10 lbs. I usually take 400citrate with coffee, OJ & calcium fortified soymilk. And 600 carbonate with meals, often with a multivitamin that has a bit of C + D etc. Average 2 meals a day. And 4 alcoholic drinks (bacardi breezer) every other day, including now (so i'm quite fucked up at the moment. Two a day is quite boring & does little for me}.As for 1200 mg of calcium. Only way to know for sure is a blood test for osteocalcin but 1200 mg WITH VITAMIN D is probably good enough. However, the artery calcification and kidney stone risks go way down if you take it in small doses throughout the day. 500 mg is the upper limit. I take 240 mg calcium citrate with magnesium and Vitamin D at each meal. Plus I get good calcium from my diet also.
I'd check out the change / sore feet thing with your doctor. Kidney problems, heart problems and diabetes are causes of that. So are badly fitted shoes and being too heavy!
Good to hear you are looking out for your health!
