Well, I'll be moving back in to Toronto in a few weeks and I today spent a long time on the phone with Cogeco (my Peterborough cable supplier) , Rogers, the cable supplier in Toronto, and Bell Canada.
Cogeco, when I told them I had to cancel my service told me that because I was receiving two special promotions, they would charge me $75 for each one for early termination of the promotion. When I objected, I told them I had never agreed to such cancellation charges and that if I had known I would not have taken the deals (maybe true, maybe not). I accused them of "bait and switch" advertising and once the rep had processed my cancellation details she switched me over to a supervisor. After much discussion he agreed to cancel one of the cancellation charges, so I'm on the hook for an extra $75. Ah well.
I phoned Rogers and for about $125 per month they offered me a 25 MBS/ 150 GB internet package and a TV package that includes the programs I like ( A&E, OLN, Discovery, H&G, etc.) . They also told me that for the first three months it would only be $85.00 and they would take $25 off the installation fee.
I stalled him off and phoned Bell. They offered me a Bell TV package the same as Rogers, a 25MBs/125GB internet package all for $111.00 per month. Also $85 per month for the first three months and free installation and activation.
So I ordered the Bell package.
I dunno if that was the best deal i could have found, but, by the time I spent so much time in several levels of voicemail hell, and on hold/ignore I was worn down and unwilling to look further.
Unfortunately the place I'm moving too has windows only pointing north and its not in line of sight of the satellites, nor of the OTA broadcasters at the CN Tower. The building I'll be in will not allow me to put anything on their roof.
What do you think?
