YAWN. I admit that I have thought or dreamed of stuff that some people might consider illegal or immoral. Thank goodness they don't jail people for thinking or dreaming.

Didn't the U.S. call out the military during the race riots of the 1960's? Or, were those "non-military" National Guards? Also, didn't U.S. warplanes consider shooting down one or more U.S. airliners (carrying U.S. citizens) during 9/11?

US military was put on 'alert' during the race riots but don't believe they were used. My unit was one of those put on alert for possible use in Philly while stationed at Ft Dix NJ in the early 70s. Most of those on alert were hardened Nam vets who recently returned from Nam. Some openly said if ordered into Philly they were NOT sure who they would shoot if it came to that, the rioters or the police who were widely referred to as 'pigs' back then, even by members of the US Army!.... The Black Power Movement was active then among many active black soldiers. They believed the time of the Black Revolution was nigh....

Kent State used some 'pansy ass' National Guards with tragic results. These nervous 'weekend warriors' ended up killing a number of students because these gutless wonders couldn't tell the difference between gunfire and firecrackers!

Yeah, believe the USAF DID shoot down that airliner, Flight 93, that went down in Pennsylvania on 9/11. They claim DICK gave the 'shoot down' orders, because Dubya was too 'busy' down in Florida reading a story about 'Goats' to some elementary school kids at the time.......

They are National Guard which is controlled in theory by each State. I believe under the Act that prevents the US Military being used as a Police force has exemptions for the Guard in times of emergency. If you remember that hurricane that leveled New Orleans, the General that was running the show was very careful to not having his soldiers show their weapons. I remember seeing this General chewing out one of his soldiers who was holding his gun live on CNN.

I actually think this law of the US is very prudent and something Canada should adopt.
