I need a burner phone that I would use VERY rarely. As such cheap is fine and I would prefer to avoid “plans”…..just pay as you go. Any ideas would be appreciated including ease of activation……….obviously I know very little about this so Thanks a lot

7 Eleven Speakout phone, I bought one recently, paid cash no ID required at the store, pay as you go airtime, airtime expires after one year from date of purchase.

For you as you would use it rarely, by the the lowest airtime, $25.

I like speakout for this but it seems this year Rogers is killing 3g from March (which is what Speakout uses). Is there another alternative? I'm hoping Speakout keeps working

Speak out has phones that support 4G. You may just have to buy a new phone from them if your current phone is 3G only. You should be able to login to your account and verify it apparently.

Apparently 7 Eleven will be closing 444 stores in north america, I think you are better off getting a burner phone at Chatr, they are pay as you go as well, no id required. They have many store located in Toronto.

I'll be switching to a Chatr phone soon.

I've had a burner for a few years. Just a basic plan through Fido. Started off low at $45/month but now I just looked at the last bill and its pushing $60. Time for Chatr pay as you go.

I thought the whole idea of having a burner phone was not having an account or anything traceable. For instances where you are doing drug deals or arranging a hit. Otherwise, it just kind of defeats the purpose.

Haha most guys here are only concerned with hiding their hobbying from their SO, nothing nefarious. But definitely having a trace to a monthly bill is sure to raise questions. Much better to go with a cash only option, no credit card bills. I am single and don't care, but I suspect the majority of guys here are on the side getting their needs met by the wonderful SPs in GTA.

You can sign up for an account with a fake name and anonymous email account. But minutes with a prepaid card(also registered with a fake name and email address) or cash.

You can do a kodoo pay as you go, text only with 100 monthly bonus minutes for $15 a month. Buy vouchures to add to your account and it will be deducted monthly.

You can buy an old/used phone or a purchase a new unlocked phone at Staples or a similar place (pay cash if you want) that is unlocked for Speakout pay as you go. Just make sure it has 4G. Yes, you can use it to make calls. Calls chew up your time allotment faster than texts though. Most computer repair places sell reconditioned phones.

Why not buy an old iphone for like 150 bucks. Apple products age well

Speakout may be disappearing at the end of the month. Many Speakout subscribers report receiving a message that is intentionally vague saying subscribers may experience service disruption after August 31, 2025 because they are phasing out the 3G network that Speakout uses. They are steering customers to Lucky Mobile who will give you a free sim card and set you up with your old number. However, Lucky Mobile does not provide a pay as you go plan. Plans start at $19.99/month. Way less flexible and less cost efficient for those who want a phone that is used infrequently.

What is not clear is: will Speakout continue to work for those that have a phone that supports 4G VoLTE? Can't get through to Speakout customer service. Anyone have any more info or insight on this?
