Wasn't that a Simpson's episode? Maybe they should cut a deal with the restaurant owner to put them on display as freaks in return for "all they can eat".

Years ago, near his record shop, there was Sam The Chinese Food Man. My friend ate 24 chicken balls. At one point, the restuarant told him to stop. Back in the day, he had an appetite like Jethro from the Hillbillies.

I've heard a bunch of stories like this. The restaurants is a private establishment so it seems reasonable as long as they refunded the money when they tossed them.

That would seem not to be such a big problem, if they refunded the 12 UK Pounds, ( $19 ) and told them never to come back, they would not have to deal with the pigs and they would no long disrupt the other customers. I do not think the restaurant needs that kind of customer.

When I go to Costa Rica, my favourite breakfast place is an all you can eat buffet. One of the first times I went there, they kicked out & banned a guy. I asked the waiter why & he said he comes there every day, loads up his plate with bacon, sausage, beef in gravy & chicken in white sauce, eats a bit & leaves the rest. They were throwing out full plates of food. In that case, I agreed with their actions.

But here, if they're advertising all you can eat & someone takes them up on it, they shouldn't be banning them imo.

I love the fact that the first reply here was the Simpsons episode. That's for sure the first thing that came to my mind. On the Globe site it took about 10 posts to get to the same item. We're clearly much classier here!

If it's a one time thing then I side with the customers. But if they're making a habit of gorging themselves at buffets then fuck 'em, turf them out.

I remember in high school (when me and my buddies had no money), we'd go to chinese buffet (which was like $6-7 for lunch) and they HATED us, LOL! But we weren't that bad in terms of how much we ate. I understand the need to make a profit though and I imagine there's a whole lot more pigs out there today gorging themselves than back in the day.

Memories! I remember going to Pizza Hut buffet back in the day (dunno if they even have that anymore) and it was good at the time but fucking DISGUSTING an hour later. Never again! lol

I have heard that story before, there are some people that have the attitude that the restaurant will not make any money on me. If I do not eat it, I will waste it attitude.

Legitimate reasons for banning.

- Wasting food.
- Making a mess of the place.
- Taking food out of the restaurant.

Let's be reasonable...

Reminds of joke;
Guy at an all-you-can-eat finishes his first plate and gets his bill and is told he has to leave.

Customer: I thoughtt this was all-you-can-eat ?
Waiter: That's right, that's all you can eat.

I rather eat too little, then too much. Sometimes i quit while I'm still hungry but then 15 mins late on I feel full...yeah I might have a snack in a hour or 2, fruit, nuts, chips and some juice (fruit juice) !

All you can eat should mean you can have up to thirds, after that its pigging out and stuffing yourself cause its free

I hate buffets. If you go to one, there seems to be pressure to load up a 2nd plate of food, to get your money's worth. And I always regret it later.

I used to go to Tung Hing buffet on Dundas just east of Dixie. They would do the all you can eat crab legs. You know you have out stayed your welcome when the owner approaches your table and asks you "are you guys from the United States", then comments "I am bringing some fresh rice out for you guys, ok?". I had a buddy who used to eat at least 20lbs of crab legs per visit.

Similar story....

Years ago - like 40 years ago, my father's friend was an eating machine. A former CFL lineman. He was down in Florida and went to some all you can eat buffet and kept going back for the roast beef. Roast beef, roast beef and more roast beef. There was this little chinese guy behind the counter slicing the roast beef and couldn't believe how much roast beef this man was eating.

They never kicked my father's friend out, however, 5 or 6 years later, he (friend) is back in Florida and goes to the same buffet restaurant and the same little guy is working the counter - sees my father's friend and says, "let me guess - roast beef". Takes what's left of his roast beef and just puts it on his plate.

Anyone know if Mandarin kicks you out for eating too much during their all-you-can-eat buffet? Haven't been there in a while, but I love their buffets.

Different scenario. I had to explain to a friend that lotteries like 'Cash for Life' and 'Millionaire Life' don't actually pay you for the duration of your life. They advertise as such
but only pay for 25 years (the legal definition of 'life' in terms of criminal sentencing).
