Could it be that amidst all the hype over UFA signings lately, that Lou Lamiorello has quietly made the most significant offseason move? If this turns out to be true, Sutter would be the perfect choice for that team.Brent Sutter has stepped down as general manager and head coach of the WHL's Red Deer Rebels amid speculation he is headed to the NHL.
NHL sources tell TSN that Sutter stepped down from his junior club to pursue a head coaching job in the NHL and that Sutter is the odds-on favourite to be named the next head coach of the New Jersey Devils.
Brent's brother Brian will take over the Rebels. He has 13 years experience in the National Hockey League with the St. Louis Blues, Boston Bruins, Calgary Flames, and the Chicago Blackhawks. He won the Jack Adams Award as the league's top coach in 1991 with the Blues.
