I recently decided I no longer want to use my regular mechanic, I have found other mechanics I want to use. How do I tell him without hurting his feelings, anyone been through this and have any advice? We had a lot of good times over the years but I want to move on, can anyone help?

then block his # or he'll be texting and calling all hours of the day and night begging you to do an oil change...or rotate your tires

Lol, Indeed that very episode of Seinfeld came to mind.
I don't think you need to tell him anything.
Just visit other mechanics.
If you find better you'll stay with them, if not, who knows, you may come back to him.

Move on by seeing a whole bunch of new mechanics. Mechanics are just using you for money anyway and don't care about you. And for god's sake, NEVER tip your mechanic, they get paid enough already.

Lol, It's like you just said the exact thing that guys on here say about Service Providers but just substituted the "SP" with "Mechanics".
Just an observation.

You shameless hussy! Whatever happened to devotion?

Seriously, I haven't seen my mechanic since I stopped buying used cars. Haven't even dropped in for a coffee.

Cars are getting more reliable and break down less often as compared to years ago. Mechanics are starving to death from lack of business. When was the last time you changed a muffler, starter or alternator?

Many people now prefer to take their chances with a lease on a brand new Korean or Domestic than a used Japanese car.
The folks with money will still lease the high end Germans for 3 years and then pass it off to the Budget ballers to sink tonnes of money into them in repairs and maintenance.
Most brand new cars will go at least 3 years without serious repairs or maintenance required, apart from the usual fluid changes and top ups and in some case brakes.

There are plenty of mechanics around. You don't need him, so you don't have to be nice to him.

Just ghost him and be done with it.
