Negative press always on Fridays. Bad news released always on Fridays. I say Shanahan should hire Mike Gillis. Gillis won't take snash from anyone.

I nominate Dale Tallon for GM. Great success in Chicago and Florida.

2. Gave Marner 10.9 million a year when Toronto had all the leverage.
The Canes are still playing hockey. The Leafs are not.
"Sebastian Aho's salary is $6,000,000 and his cap hit is $8,460,250 for the 2022-23 season. His salary is comprised of $5,250,000 in signing bonuses and $750,000 in base salary. He is a 25 year old centre who was born on Jul. 26, 1997. He was drafted 35th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2nd round of the 2015 entry draft."

The Panthers are still playing hockey. The Leafs are not.
"Matthew Tkachuk signed a 8 year / $76,000,000 contract with the Florida Panthers, including a $68,000,000 signing bonus, $76,000,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $9,500,000. In 2023-24, Tkachuk will earn a base salary of $1,000,000 and a signing bonus of $10,250,000, while carrying a cap hit of $9,500,000."

The Leafs should fire anyone who get paid $10 million and didn’t score a single goal in round 2 of the playoff. I am sick of seeing them pocketing the big bucks and didn’t perform.

The core will be gone. Tavares can't move him, no-trade clause. Matthews and Marner are gone for prospects and picks. Keep Nylander he has a good contract, he was the best playoff performer of the core 4, they keep him.

Or Maybe they run it back for another season with the core 4.

Matthews No Trade clause kicks in on July 1 so the Leafs could and should move Austin before then. They don't need a GM to do that, Shanahan can do that. Otherwise after the clause kicks in, the Leafs will be handcuffed. Better to see what we can get for him. Otherwise at end of next season, he walks away and Leafs get nothing but memories.

The Marner contract might discourage any team from trading for him.

Mitchell Marner signed a 6 year, $65,408,000 contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sep. 13, 2019. The contract has a cap hit of $10,903,000.

Numbers aside, Dubas learned on the job the hard way. He shot his wad on the Top 4, yet their playoff record isn't entirely on them.

Having spent so much on four players, Dubas had no choice but to Red Green the blue line corps.

Trading Matthews would be like trading Gretzky.

Does anybody remember the Roberto Luongo contract? He was untradeable because of that contract.

The Canes aren't playing hockey anymore. Neither are the Bruins.

The Leafs underachieved this post season, but a lot of that's because the Panthers have gotten red hot at the right time. They're 10-1 in the last 11 playoff games. No one's going to beat a team that is that hot.

The Panther team had a lot of injuries and other problems to their players during the regular season. The team is now at full complement for the playoffs.

The Panther's previous regular season record was:

I proposed, half in jest, the following hire as both GM and coach- Patrick Roy. He’s obviously a good coach, he consistently has the Quebec Remparts at the top of the Q, and often in the Memorial Cup. He actually was doing well as coach of the Avalanche, but he wanted to be GM too, so he was let go. Boy, wouldn’t his hiring by the Leafs piss off all the Hab fans!
