Make sure you're getting white Cachaca if you're mxing your own Caipirinha.

I perfer brown/gold Cachaca. Bought a 700ml bottle of " Cachaca Brazilian Spirit " at the airport duty free in Sao Paulo couple years ago for 50USD. Smoothiest thing I have ever drunk within the 100USD range. That good.

*wondering if the meat is beef from Brazil where they are clearcutting the rainforests to accomodate the grazing cattle...*

The Caipirinhas in Rio are the best too! I even brought some cachaça home from there so that I could make them at home but mine were never exactly right.
Caipirinhas are really easy to make. You really need a pestle though. (That is one of those flat-bottomed sticks for crushing fruit).

Take 1 juicy lime. Cut it into eighths. Put 4 of them in an old fashioned glass with 1 or 2 teaspoons of sugar (to taste). Crush them with pestle then add the other 4 pieces and crush them. You must crush the whole fruit to get some of the zest from the peel. Add ice to the glass and top up with cachaça. As an alternative you can give the ice a wash with a splash of gin before adding the cachaça if you wish. Stir and let it steep for a few minutes to infuse the flavours.

Use a good white cachaça like Sagatiba and not Pitu. The gold cachaças are for sipping.

Pitu sucks.

Ypióca rules.

Good cachaça is to be found in the hinterland of Brazil.

This is from an event I participated in Rio.

texas de brazil

in miami, vegas and other cities.

Ate at texas de brazil and copacabana / red violin can't come close. also went to a steakhouse in montreal that wasn't the same...

there used to be a steak house at leslie and 7 but i think it might have shut down - does anyone know?

Yonge n Eg just opened a copacabana as well - it gets my vote over the RV on danforth.

First time I went, I made the rookie mistake of loading up on the very excellent salad bar. Never again!

The parmesan-crusted pork tenderloin, unbelievable!!
Complete rookie mistake. I love almost everything there but my favourite is the picana (sp). The lamb chops are awesome too.

Damn I'm hungry.

Been to both copocabana locations and the food and service was great at both. The one in the Falls had a little better vibe in it than the Toronto location.

I would go again any time.

Is Brasa the Copacabana in the Falls. Great atmosphere! Not like Rio or Sao Paolo, but it certainly is a great meal.

Not impressed at all with these places. If you want and excellent steak, nothing beats Canadian AAA from Alberta.
