My favorite brand of bottled water is Evian. I find it has the best taste, although it is also the most expensive. That's why I'm thinking about not buying it anymore and put the money into an "SP Savings" jar instead. I want to see how quickly it adds up! :D
Tried that...no luck...still love my Evian and Perrier. LOL

Did you know Evian is cheaper in Montreal then it is in Toronto? Weird eh? French connection maybe? LOL

If you refill water bottles they are unsafe, as bacteria can grow in the bottles. (like some have mentioned )
The bacteria levels in many of the bottles were so high that a "boil water"

order would be issued if they were found in a municipal water .

Some bottles contained a type of bacteria seen when people don't wash

their hands properly after using the washroom. These containers are not

designed to be used more than once .Apparantly those steardy plastic

bottles that you take on the go (some are unbreakable ) are better for ya for refills .

Backflush is 100% correct.
I have a relative who works at a large water monopoly in Europe and that is what he told me. they are contracted to provide municipal water services thru out the world. They care for and maintain all filtration plants and piping that send/receives water to the tap.
Bottled water companies use up so much water so fast that ground source water is not enough to met demand. So they also use municipal water.

A side note - the company also would like to see water traded on the market as a comodity. Will this happen?

What I find works really well is the Brita system that you actually attact to your facet. I wasn't always entirely convinced that it was great product until recently I took a swing of water straight out of the tap without the system and it was like damn, this tastes like sh*t, lol. The water coming out of the brita system in comparison tastes great. No funky chemical after taste etc. Not too expen$ive either. I figure it's running me about a $8 tab a month.

Could be wrong, but I think the only water you can be sure that it's 100% legit . . . distilled
While distilled water is some of the 'cleanest' water you can get, there is a reason most people don't drink it on a regular basis.

Because distilled water contains no minerals it has the remarkable ability to essentially leech minerals from your body. Regular consumption can lead to dangerously low electrolite levels and long term usage is also linked to things like osteoperosis, osteoarthritis, hypothyroidism, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure and a long list of degenerative diseases generally associated with premature aging.
