I'm booked to spend a few days in Berlin, Germany in August. Plan to go to the big FKK club Artemis at least once. Has anybody here ever been to Berlin for hobbying and if so, any other ideas besides Artemis? I don't speak any German by the way.

ES, you may have already read about my experience on MERB, but for the benefit of others:

I`ve been to Artemis once and I highly recommend the experience. You can read about my experience here:

A pilgrimage to Artemis in Berlin

Also, don`t worry about not speaking German. Here`s what I said about that on MERB:

Obviously it`s always better to know the language when you`re visiting a foreign country, but there is absolutely no reason to forego the FKK experience even though you don`t know German. My vocabulary in German consists of about 20 words and phrases, yet I still had a great time at Samya in Cologne and Artemis in Berlin.

You will meet some girls who speak good English and for then you will meet some girls who are so gorgeous that you won`t care what language you may or may not share with them. Also, it`s very easy to get by in English with the vast majority of people that you encounter in hotels and restaurants in Germany. So learn a few words and phrases in German, and then go to Germany for a truly unique experience.

Thanks CR. I'm not really worried about the language issue at Artemis since I know they get their fair share of non-German speaking tourists. It's the other places (if I end up going to other spots).

CR's review indicated two tire shops. I didn't quite understand from the review but did you initially go the wrong way or is it really the second tire shop that you should be looking for after the train station near Artemis?

Which hotel did you stay at and would you recommend it?

ES, you walk out of the Westkreuz S-bahn station and come to a busy 2-lane road. You turn left to go to Artemis and head towards the train tracks. As I recall, there is a tire shop right before you walk across the bridge over the train tracks. On the other side of the bridge there is another tire/car repair shop and right behind it is Artemis. Once you cross the tracks, you can't miss Artemis, because it is a 3-4 story building that rises above the tire shop in front of it. The total distance from the station to Artemis is less than 1/4 mile.

I can recommend a hotel:

The Park Plaza Wallstreet (Wallstrasse)

It's a very nice hotel located on a quiet street. It's very close to a U-Bahn station and it's withing walking distance of a restaurant district along the river. I think we paid about 80 euros/night and I was very satisfied. It's not close to Artemis, but it's easy to get to Artemis via U-Bahn and S-Bahn. If you stay at Artemis late into the night, you will probably find the Westkreuz station closed, so it's best to take a taxi back to your hotel. They wait right outside the door of Artemis.

If you have more questions, PM me on MERB.
