Boeing 787 GROUNDED by FAA!!!

Wow!! Boeings superplane has been grounded after a spate of electrical failures!!! Good luck to Boeing. I hope they get it sorted soon.

I wouldn't start selling the stock. Remember that Quantas grounded all of their new Airbus 380's for several weeks last year with wing cracks.

As much as I love the A380, the 787 is a MUCH more important plane. There are already 54 in service and over 800 on order.... I agree though, I suspect the issue will be resolved quite quickly.

I guess the problems will be resolved soon enough but it is probably not a good idea to fly on any plane in its first couple years of service.

Takes them awhile to detect and fix these things.

The Airbus 380's had hairline cracks in non-critical wing parts that were discovered by inspections. The difference with Boeing 787 problem is that it was a much more critical failure that caused emergency landing because of smoke & battery overheating. This plane was constantly delayed in production and I wonder if it was rushed a little too much to get it out. Almost sounds like a B movie plot.

I'm sure Boeing will bounce back - it is good for the industry to have at least two major competitors in the large passenger jet business. Is China developing their own ?
