Ok, I have had it with this Body Wash!
Call me old fashioned, but give me soap, I like soap!
You now go to hotels and what do you find, all these little bottles, shampoo, conditioner, mouth wash and BODY WASH!
Where's the soap, none, just that small bar to wash your hands. Ever try to take a shower and use that bar of soap, it sucks.
(Not that type of suck, I should know better, then use that word on this board!)
Last night after a game of racket ball with my friend at his new condo, I went to his suite. His wife told me told me to take a shower while she prepared dinner. So I'm in the shower, what do I see, all these bottles, shampoo, conditioner and three bottles of BODY Wash, but no soap!
I read the instructions on how to use this, it says put a small amount on a wet puff! Wet puff, what the hell is a wet puff?
Look around, can't see anything that says wet puff, so use the hand towel!
I hate this stuff, don't feel clean and worse is you feel all oily.
Like when you are all rub up at a MP!
So what the hell is going on with this BODY WASH, I want soap back!
Mingo's (rant)!

heheh ... I didn't recognise her either.

coincidentally while browsing uselessjunk.com a couple of weeks back I came across this : Aria

As for soap, I'm not entirely sure what "body wash" is, but if it's the stuff they have in most spas I wouldn't want it for home use. Gimme a bar o' pears any day.

Body wash is from Dial, Leaver 2000 and a host of other makers. Basically it looks like coloured clear shampoo but for the body.

I took a shower one time in a hotel and I lost the little bar of soap up my ass.

Supposedly, bar soaps are much more drying than body washes, as they suck moisture and natural oils from your skin.

Not true if you use a bar like Dove or Olay.

Please stop using my name in vain :D

Body wash is supposed to be better for your skin, and also for your bath tub. Soap leaves soap scum all over the corners and grout lines, and if you have a shower door, you are in for big trouble.

BUT, if you maintain your bath tub/shower, you will be fine. Only people that clean like once a month are in for trouble. As for me, I prefer to use body soap, and something like Dove leaves my skin feeling fine!

Which brings up another comfort of home - soap on a rope.

Soap bars are better

Especially for guys. Yeah they wash the oils off your body but those are the same properties that bind to bacteria and allow it to rinse of your body. Leaving behind fats & sugar from your sweat feeds the smelly microbes so they re-colonize your body faster.

I like exfoliating cloths & gloves, but you have to waste time keeping them clean & dry. When stuck with bodywash, I just dump alot of it on my hands & torso and work it in. I find the puffs goofy.

At home I strictly use long-lasting inexpensive Ivory and SoapWorks bars. 1st wash is Soapworks Carbolic for odor contol, then Ivory to wash off the soap smell. Carbolic can be drying so sometimes I substitute milder Charcoal soap. I use antiseptic Tea Trea oil soap on my face & prvates. SoapWorks bars can be bought at Nutrition House, Bulk Barn, Noah's and most healthfood stores from $1.50 - $1.99.

I was introduced to liquid soap and a special wash cloth...not unlike the puffs.... in a Japanese bath house. The second time was in a Japanese Massage parlour in New York a number of years ago. A very interesting experience that I may write about another time.
For now, on the topic...I love using the liquid soap and a cloth of some kind. I just try to avoid the highly scented varieties...much preferred over bar soap for feeling clean and scrubbed after a shower.
My two cents.
Cheers

I found Old Dutch Cleanser a compelling reason not to shower every day. What type of body soap would Conservative MP Myron Thompson use?

People may leave it out for guests so they don't have to share their bars, or to avoid the expense of providing a new bar to every guest.

As bodywashes go, Dial & Lever rinse cleanest and do the best job of odor protection, but it still doesn't last as long. If stuck with a body wash, pre-lather your armits, perenium & pubes with an antibacterial hand soap before you start the shower.
