If he had actually wanted to disappear he would have gone to Napoli and become a soldier for the Camorra. Then he could have killed people to his heart's content. I don't have hard stats handy but it seems that gay men are at greatest risk of being murdered by another gay man (just like a Black man is at greatest risk of being shot by another Black man).
