Disastrous idea.If you can package up Pompey and Hutch for a valuable reliever, I'm all ears right now

Actually EE to sign wit Boston has been around for awhile. I heard this last year. It does make sense because unless they unload say Tulo they may not have th budget for both EE and JB. Remember that Donaldson will have to be signed in the near future and Martin's contract jumps in value. At least Tulo's actually drops later in it.This is another example of how a story with no merit to it turns into something way bigger than what it is. All this was, was that some writer said they would be a good fit because they are right handed power bats and with Ortiz most likely retiring, they'll probably want to ad a big bat. Nobody from the actual Red Sox organization has mentioned anything about either one of those two guys. It's amazing how someone comes up with an idea or a thought, and all of a sudden EE, and joey bats are red sox's next year.
Dalton Pompey was rushed through the system by the previous front office, you don't trade away speed on the bases. If you can package up Pompey and Hutch for a valuable reliever, I'm all ears right now
Actually JD isn't a free agent until 2019, 3 years is a long way in my mind.Actually EE to sign wit Boston has been around for awhile. I heard this last year. Now we also lose Dickey's contract this year but don't have much in the minors so back the free agent market we go for another starter.
Personally with Travis I think we have a winner. I still say sign JB and let EE go if the price is wrong.
This reminds me of last year when you wanted to dump EE. Put the vodka away!If you can package up Pompey and Hutch for a valuable reliever, I'm all ears right now
All the speed in the world isnt gonna help you if you can't hit.Dalton Pompey was rushed through the system by the previous front office, you don't trade away speed on the bases
EE won't consider anything under $20 million per season, also the Jays have only offered him 2 yrs. EE wants 4 minimum. There is another factor I believe when it comes to JB as well. He is, well, one of the more hated men in Baseball. Don't get me wrong, any team would like to have a guy like that. But in Toronto he is the Big Fish in our pond. Going to another team he would have to put up big numbers to justify a contract. And be under scrutiny. Without the history and good will he has built up with Toronto fans.
I realize JD is a few years away from Free Agency. But I want to lock him in before then. He is that damn valuable. Both as a player and as a leader.
I'm pretty sure that we will resign him. EE I think wants and deserves at least 15 per. But the team can't afford it all.

If teams don't offer big money, they will be accused of collusion.Going to be interesting to see where the market goes.
He is 33 and has a bit if a history of back and hand issues. As well he is a basically now a DH.EE won't consider anything under $20 million per season, also the Jays have only offered him 2 yrs. EE wants 4 minimum.
Inaccurate, hated by some beloved by others. Bryce Harper thinks he is the best player in the majors. He's is also a member of the negotiating committee within the MLBPA. And without him the Jays as a unit would disintegrate. There is another factor I believe when it comes to JB as well. He is, well, one of the more hated men in Baseball. Speaking of Harper, the Nats are trying to get him to sign an extension that will buy out a few of his FA yrs. much like they did with Strasburg but Harper is showing no signs of interest. One reporter asked Harper if he will be the first $400 million baseball player and Harper replied " your selling me short". Of course having Scott Boras as his agent will see him hit FA demanding an astronomical contract.Inaccurate, hated by some beloved by others. Bryce Harper thinks he is the best player in the majors. I find it amazing that teams even talk to this guy anymore.Of course having Scott Boras as his agent will see him hit FA demanding an astronomical contract.

If I was in my last year I would resign in spring training as long as the Jays came anywhere close to my value as there are 3 possibilitiesThis is another example of how a story with no merit to it turns into something way bigger than what it is. If I was in my last year I would resign in spring training as long as the Jays came anywhere close to my value as there are 3 possibilities
1 I have a great year - I lose as I could have got more so I get a contract that awards me for outstanding year IE more if I am in running for MVP etc
2 I have a bad year then I have a better contract than I would have got
3 Most importantly, I get serious injury then I have won big time
Players all want extended contract in their last years (who would not) and Jays say no but I say go for guarantee as in two years you be in same position and unless you completely lose it you will still get another 2 years as DH somewhere
Jays are serious about winning so the number of clubs in same winning position are limited anyways
Who cares? That's the players union's problem.
I would think half the teams in the leagues want put an end to the crazy contracts for there own survival. The league needs parity. It's not healthy for the league to have teams like L.A with a payroll of 246 million and Milwaukee to have 64 million.
The CBA expires at the end of this year so we'll what happens.
