Let's start a new thread and discuss a new series starting on Thrusday vs. Rangers.
I pick the Jays in 5. Better SPs with the best defensive catcher in the game,Russell Martin.

Who pitches in Game 2 for the Jays? I would go with Dickey, based on his home record and the controlled environment. Keep the StroShow for the Game 3 road game.

imho, game 2 is critical...the game i have tickets for.......if we win game 1, we have a chance to take command....and prevent texas from gaining any momentum going home.......if we lose game 1, game 2 becomes a must win....so I want Stroman in game 2.....also means we are using older pitchers on road

Russell Martin has been good but is NOT the best defensive catcher in the game. Above average, but that's it. Maybe the best offense in baseball is a bigger factor-should definitly be mentioned.

Shouldn't the Jays included Buerhle in the line up for this series against the Rangers? What's his record?
Sportnet mentioned that Price didn't have a "price-like" career record against the Rangers. Make me nervous for the first game. But, then what's the hell do I know?
If the Yanks can pass Houston tomorrow, watch out. Jays-Yankees could happen on the road to the WS.

I would go with "very hard". Then, "very soft" with Dickey. He is pitching better in the dome. On the road, I would go back to "very hard" in Stro. Game 4 is back to Price with either 2-1 or 1-2 in the series. At 1-2 you need your ace to save you from ending the season prematurely.

Price won't be pitching in Game 4, as it would be on 3 days of rest. That's why they'll go with a 4th starter(CHIPs).

You always expect your ace to step it up in the big games and prove he's the best. Look for a different David when it's all on the line.

Game 1 should be Price v Gallardo
Game 2 should be Hamels; I would keep the same rotation and go with Estrada
Game 3 should be Stroman against one of the less accomplished Texas starters.

Jays in 3.

I could overestimate the Yanks in this space. The Yankees just announced that they will be losing CC Sabathia for the post season. Sabathia has checked in to AA (not the Jays GM,lol). Make a long story short, the Yanks are a mess even before their crucial WG tomorrow.

Everything is more bizarre in the Bronx, folks. Apparently, CC couldn't make it through the playoffs without visiting rehab!

If Eovaldi is still out that leaves Tanaka, Severino (rookie), Nova (back from pen) and Pineda as the rotation. That's not going to scare too many people. They burn Tanaka in the WC game and they go with Severino against KC.

Are we sure this hurts the yankees?

If it does not tomorrow, it would hurt them in the next series before the semi finals. I don't like their chances when they are down to a rookie pitcher and Pineda? What's about the hamstring on Tanaka? He could be facing a lot pressure in his young career in MLB,tomorrow.

I would go with Price game 1 and Dickey game 2 because his home record is so much better than his away record.
Might as well use all the advantages you've got.
All 4 guys will start at least one game unless someone sweeps the series.

If the Jays get through this series they can go with a different rotation in the next series based on what the situation there is because of all the days off.
Hopefully lady luck swings over to Price because he's 0-5 in 5 career post season starts.
Gallardo has suffocated the Jays offence this year; but, is likely to be near 100 pitches after 5 innings; so, that's one thing in Jays favour.

I don't think the Yanks get by Keuchel tomorrow. He's 2-0 this year vs NYY with a complete game and a 0.00 ERA.

Bizarrely, CC was pretty effective coming off the DL with a leg brace. Maybe it's the Babe Ruth approach: the drunker (and fatter) he was, the better he played.
