I agree that the best case scenario is that you go down to the dome and cheer on the boys in person, however..................not everyone can get down there, and you would assume that because the team is owned by Ted Rogers it would be on TV.

If the Jays are serious about drawing back fans they need to make the product available on television. Sure the game is available on Fan 590, but I agree if the Red Sox, the reigning world series champs are in town, the game should be on TV.

well I'm not defending anything or anybody. I definitely wish this series was on the tube. But the fact is that these are games that are still going on in May and just probably won't have any impact on the final standings in October. The networks had prior committments to show (in this case) 1. NBA playoffs and 2. Memorial Cup action. Both of these events are yearly high points in pro basketball and junior hockey and supposedly bring in higher numbers than games 45 through 47 in a 162 game regular season.

That being said, I'm with you guys. I wish the games were on TV. Better yet, I wish I went to the games. Though if I did, I'd be surrounded by BoSox fans who made the trek here from Beantown.

Anywhere there's a Strip Joint
 Both games have been on Rogers CH. 59. It's supposed to be a free preview MLB station.

anywhere I hang my hat
Red Sox Fan (most of the time), Cardinal fan all of the time

Had an opportunity to attend last nights sleeper. I couldn't have asked for a nicer evening. The dome was open and the weather was perfect. (did I mention the game was a sleeper)

I also don't understand why a team in a city as large as Toronto can't draw better, especially against the Yankees and Red Sox. It sure is a good thing there are plenty of Yankee and Red Sox fans in the area or the place may have been empty. The opening night atmosphere was wonderful. I've been to Fenway for a game against Tampa Bay last year, weekday afternoon sellout, and that was also amazing.

See you at the Cardinal games on the 13th & 15th.

For starters, how about all those years of toiling in mediocrity? The Blue Jays dug their own grave; now it's up to them to climb out of it.

Tell that to a Cubs fan

Doesn't hold much water IMHO. No team has seen more mediocrity than the Cubs, or Red Sox for that matter. Both similar size cities, (very large populations) and both are sold out, for all intents.

A few differences

A few big differences. First, the Cubs and Red Sox have 80+ years of history, Toronto only 28. So when the strike hit, there were far fewer life-long die-hard fans in Toronto willing to come back immediately compared to the Cubs or Boston. Second, the Cubs and Red Sox play in incredible ballparks, full of life, histroy, and character. Screw the game - it's a joy just to go hang out in those parks. The Rogers Centre, on the other hand, is a big concrete mess. Sure, it has a baseball field in it, but once you've seen the JumboTron once and you've seen the dome open and close, all you're left with on subsequent visits is the game itself. Third, the Jays have been mediocre in a very strong division ever since the strike. The math: Non-contender + boring stadium + less history = no reason for fickle fans to return en mass.

Put a playoff team back on the field, slowly win the fans back, and then don't strike again and maybe they'll keep the fans.

I recall when the Jays were on top in the early 90's, the Yankees had a mediocre team and were only drawing about 15,000 on many nights.

Lol.

I know what you mean. Well, to upset timing is the most effective tool for any pitcher at any level.

Hey, I'm not saying its not effective, if anything I'd say he does it beatifully.
He'll throw a 60 pmh change-up followed by a 90 mph fastball, followed by an 80 mph change and then another 70 mph change. (check the radar gun yourself next game)

So he has 4 pitches.
I'm not sure if its a cut fastball or a very tight spinning slider but the shits effective, thats for sure

I've seen his radar readings. He does do it well.

All great pitchers, use some kind of change-up or two-seemer when there out pitch is not working for them. And you're right. You never see a guy that has no breaking pitch. I think a lefty, can get away with that more then a righty can.

And I think his other pitch you are talking about, is a cutter. At least it breaks tightly like one.
