Kudos to Toronto police. Glad to hear all the victims are ok. It's no fun getting hit by a hammer.CP24 crime specialist Steve Ryan was just on TV and said Toronto Police have apprehended the suspect

Took the Yonge line for an appointment twice in the last month - there are very, very strange people roaming about - mentally disturbed people, physically sick coughing people without masks, people that panhandle, people that scream at strangers, homeless people sleeping in the trains - no sign of any TTC control on platforms or trains. You are on your own. Be aware and be careful.
Same here. I had two back to back appointments with my ophthalmologist about two months ago. I couldn't drive or bike there because the drops make my vision blurry so I took the subway.Took the Yonge line for an appointment twice in the last month - there are very, very strange people roaming about - mentally disturbed people, physically sick coughing people without masks, people that panhandle, people that scream at strangers, homeless people sleeping in the trains - no sign of any TTC control on platforms or trains. Likewise. I don't stand near the edge. There was a case years ago of someone who spent his last dollars on a lottery ticket and when it didn't win, he pushed someone off the platform. He got beaten to death in jail within 48 hours. I tried googling it, only to find that there have been several pushing incidents in Toronto. In the last 20 years I've taken the subway like twice. Whenever I take it, I'm always very aware of my surroundings. I stay the fuck away from the platform with my back near a wall if possible. I realize the chances of someone pushing you on the tracks or getting randomly attacked are like 1 in a million, but it does happen.
Anyway, all 5 people suffered minor injuries so crises avoided.
Do you really want to trust those idiots with guns simply because a couple times a year (if that) we have incidents like this despite well over a million rides per day? They need to start arming the TTC police with tasers, or maybe even handguns
Is it true that more people are killed by bees than by lunatics on the TTC so no big deal?Do you really want to trust those idiots with guns simply because a couple times a year (if that) we have incidents like this despite well over a million rides per day?

Too bad. Spend all that money on a great transportation system, only to have it fucked up by the walking dead.
There's a "quote of the day" thread going on.Life Truths:

TTC cops are all idiots now?? Wow, what a bigoted, blanket statement.Do you really want to trust those idiots with guns simply because a couple times a year (if that) we have incidents like this despite well over a million rides per day?

Good thing you don't take the Bloor-Danforth line after 9 pm.Took the Yonge line for an appointment twice in the last month - there are very, very strange people roaming about - mentally disturbed people, physically sick coughing people without masks, people that panhandle, people that scream at strangers, homeless people sleeping in the trains - no sign of any TTC control on platforms or trains. You seem to have an obsession with black guys. What's the matter, they make you feel inadequate?Same here. I had two back to back appointments with my ophthalmologist about two months ago. I couldn't drive or bike there because the drops make my vision blurry so I took the subway.
The TTC constables can't do anything because of two incidents.
1) A black guy was apprehended for fare evasion. He claimed he was apprehended solely because he is black. Every liberal/NDP person in the city agreed with the black guy.
2) In another incident there was a physical takedown where two constables had to use reasonable force. The video of the takedown caused an out roar in the lefty community.
I couldn't take credit for that quote. It came from the one and only Dart. There's a "quote of the day" thread going on.
