I get your point but if Texas pulled that sh*t every few years to get handouts I think we'd pack them up and rent their room out from under them. As you can tell, we don't shy away from taking a tough position down here.

In Canada, once you are a citizen, as long as that citizenship was not gained illigitemately, your citizenship is an inalienable right that can not be stripped from you. To force someone to be a citizen of another country would be in violation of those rights
I think that the issue is that Canada has a responsibility to it's citizens at home and abroad. There are a lot of people in Quebec that have careers and homes and families that do not want to seperate and, as Canadian citizens, they have a right to the protection of their homes and their land to some degree and they cannot be made to NOT be Canadians because someone else votes in favour of seperation.Cardinal Fang said:They next time they have a referendum on separation the rest of Canada should hold a referendum to join them. It is the perogative of the BLOC to do these things.( not supply veterans with the Canadian flag) They are a dying party due to the fact that the population of Quebec has figured out that the world is a global comunity now.
The angry separatist skum bag teen agers that I encountered in the streets of Montreal 15 years ago are no longer in the majority. Last year I was walking my Husky dog in Montreal (a True Canadian dog of the north) A little girl asked me in french if she could pet him, when I did not understand what she said. She switched to english right away and asked me again. I said it was OK. Her friends ( a boy and a girl )came over to pet the dog. When the other girl said something to the dog in french, the first girl told her that she had to speak in english to the dog because he (the dog)was from Toronto. This sort of thing did not happen 15 years ago.
We all have to let things simmer down in the pot, and not disturb a situation that is getting better by itself.
