Having used both the Treo and Blackberry ...... i prefer the world of higher end GSM phones that are not locked down and do more then just email. i got myself a Nokia N80... i can surf... i can browse over wifi.... i can use VoIP over wifi.... works as a phone and runs the SYmbian OS... my phone is unbranded and allows me the choice of Rogers or Fido or if i travel i buy a 20 or 30 dollar card from where i am and pop it in my phone.... I was just given a O2 XDA Neo to try by the person i bought the N80 off of.... i just set it up like the N80 pop in my SIM card and i am rolling. The phone cost me 510 for the N80... i am not locked in and my phone is not crippled like the Rogers, Telus (non GSM phones) and Fido phones that are branded.

Big world of phones out there and some are very very cool.

Treo 600/650 Last year's news

In 2005, the Treo was the best phone/email combo available. Yes it freezes. But when the alternative was a laptop and a flip phone with a funny cable, Treo ruled.

Today, you have lots of options. The Blackberry is just only invented in Canada one. In my mind that is a good enough reason to get one. But it is too similar to the Treo - both the pro and con - to choose. It is just taste. Do you need to take photos or mini videos with your phone? Treo wins. if you want fast data, Blackberry wins, etc.

If you want to add Navigation pick between the IPAQ and Treo with the add-on GPS.

Not easy, but you just have to do the homework to choose what you want.

I picked the Treo, with a Bluetooth headset and I am happy. My salestaff in the US went blackberry and they are happy.

Between a rock and a hard place
Get the Blackberry. The Treo does not support "direct push" technologu so your email alerts and notifications and triggers will be charged to your bill as SMS messages. Differing rate plans are negligible compared to the extra charges jacked up by SMS messages. SO unless you like checking for your emails manually every 10 minutes get the Blackberry.

Quite a bit. This is my ipod replacement and general lifestyle device.

It's quite cool when i can gmail, check work mail, listen to podcasts in the gym, chat on msn, 2gm miniSD card for mp3 device and google maps for when i get lost in brampton! All in one sleek thing.

Forget about Treo - Palm operating system sucks - If you use this Smart phone to make $$$$ go for the Pearl. If you don't want the Pearl check out the Q.

I've decided to weasle my way out of the hundreds of dollars bills from Rogers by cutting down on the plans and stop the ass raping.
- stop using e-mail on phone
- stop using phone in the US
- stop phone surfing
- get a tiny laptop for e-mail and skype
- get a cheap cingular pay-as-you-go phone in the states
- get a Garmin for directions
Your additional equipment is paid off in a short time and you can do so much more with it.

I agree with some of this....
Use a pay as you go where ever you happen to be in the US if available.
Get a phone with WiFI..... with the Windows OS or VOIP you can use your phone over WiFI and it sounds crystal clear and you are not paying for data or the call. A lot of the decent GSM phones have built in WiFi and will save you bundles surfing IMing and such.
As far as the GPS goes..... no shit the phone GPS just does not cut it......

treo

I have the new treo 700 had the treo 650 and the treo 600.

The treo 700 is awesome. It is windows based and does not freeze like the 650.
also has evdo technology for high speed.

I also have a black berry and I think it is shit.
I do not like their calender options and is not user friendly to sync with the PC.

My opinion.
