I grew up in Toronto Community Housing. I've seen with my own eyes, innocent black guys (and brown) being arrested and charged for being at the wrong place and wrong time (during drug and weapons raids, breaking up fights and parties, etc). The white trash who smoked crack in the basements and sold their own drugs were barely arrested. Outside of that neighbourhood i lived in, you were always stopped at night by police and ID'd if you were a POC.

All I can do is laugh at the idiots down south trying to ban CRT.
You sound like a real basketcase

Self employed. My neighborhood is upper middle class with immigrant doctors, Canadian born business people, etc. Every single family as far as the eye can see is nuclear. My kids and all others here are successful.
Those who look at the annual high school graduating class will notice almost all the top students are E.I.'s, Chinese and a few Jews.

The top student a few years ago was a female E.I. whose immigrant father drove a taxi 24/7.

Frankly, i think you are the one with mental issues. "States with strong nuclear family units tend to have mental issues"? What utter nonsense. Right wing states tend to have lower median household income but the cost of living is much lower. $100,000 in New York City doesnt get you very far while $50,000 in Birmingham gets you far.

"Successful immigrants come from money?" What hogwash. Perhaps you should post less and think more. I am a black immigrant from Ghana. Came here with nothing. Acquired a PhD in chemical engineering from reputable university. Self employed. My neighborhood is upper middle class with immigrant doctors, Canadian born business people, etc. Every single family as far as the eye can see is nuclear. My kids and all others here are successful.
Good post.....These are the stories that we need to hear.

Poorest and fattest states are Republican lead states

Depression, suicide rates highest in Mountain West states

Immigrants Come to Canada with an Average $47,000 in Savings

You sound like an "uppity negro." Anecdotal evidence is not fact.

@redshank thinks you're a "basketcase" regarding your post.

I guess he doesn't realize that your history is one of many thousands, not just in this city but many others.

Working, responsible, professional friends of mine get pulled over regularly simply for being black and driving a nice car.

Racism is strong on TERB.

I came to this country with zero savings. But came from a nuclear family which stressed education above everything. Had a tuition scholarship and a teaching assistantship. To supplement, I was a night time dish washer at Bar B Barn on Guy Street in Montreal. Also cleaned toilets and the floor at arcades on St Catherine Street at night. Yes, I went to McGill. I also did door to door sales of magazine subscription.

None of my friends from Ghana and Nigeria had the savings you are talking about when they arrived in Canada. Today, several are professors, doctors, engineers, etc. My two kids are both professionals. They have never smoked a cigarette or taken any illicit drugs. Ever. How do I know? We kept a close eye on them growing up and they live nearby. All their fees in college were paid up. Not a dime in OSAP or any student debt. Lack of parental support in black communities is the reason for higher crime rates and endemic poverty. Sad.

Whatever you mean by the stupid "uppity negro" term, I can tell you I am proudly Canadian and thankful every day for what Canada has offered me and my family.

You dont seem to have anything better to do with your time than incessantly post these moronic threads. Good luck.

I am a black professional. Been in Canada for 40 years. I drive a nice car. I have been pulled over twice during this whole time for speeding. Last time, the cop said I had a clean driving record and let me go with just a warning. None of my friends or family members has ever been pulled over unnecessarily here in Canada. The US is another story all together.

The USA is another story altogether. I couldn't agree with you more.

Your friends and my friends should get together, have drinks and exchange stories. It'd be an interesting evening.

Send me a DM and I'll hook them up. Let them have a conversation.

Keep shucking and jiving and showing your teeth. You keep responding to the "stupid threads" btw.

You got no evidence to refute anything that I said.
Dude, you've essentially said that 2 parent families are not, from a statistical standpoint, a better option for their children's success. Or that stricter households that emphasize hard work, no excuses, rising above cultural stereotypes and assimilation into Canadian Cultural norms, as they evolve, don't make for a greater chance of success.

Which is just a really dumb thing to say.

And worse you essentially are calling a poster who has, along with his fellow immigrants and neighbours, achieved their dreams of success and community intergration a bunch of Uncle Toms.

In essence because you prefer to live in a victim culture you demand everyone else does, solely based on skin colour.

That is just fucked up.

He's not a big fan of anything that contradicts his assertions. Because of course with his wealth of real world experience he just cannot be wrong.

His default is to blame whitey for all the world's problems. As told to him by that bastion of journalistic ethics 6ixbuzz, lol.

Economics says money rather than a 2 parent household is more of a factor for success. Obviously 2 parent households tend to be better off financially.

This site is full of dinosaurs that women cannot stand. Women are tired of these whole patriarchal notions.

How about looking into the real world by seeing what most people think.

I don't know if the Ghanaian dude has adequate proficiency in English, but he doesn't seem to understand that there is a need for an underclass. It's by design. Uppity negro's like him love to look down on others with the same skin color.

The thing is, people are starting to wake up to these old outdated notions, which the social conservatives love.

Terb is at its best when the Resident Narcissist Simpleton chimes in so thanks Donnie Boy.

You’re more entertaining than you’ll ever know because you lack even a smidgeon of self awareness

So predictable and laughable and just plain boring you are Donnie. There’s members on this forum that I certainly disagree with a lot but you Donnie are the least remarkable of any of them.

Finish that DeAngelis book yet you gullible Old Fool?

If Prince and his friends are coincidentally all suffering from insomnia I’m sure they’ll want to hang with you and your friends.Donnie. That’s a sure cure.

I‘d rather be a cinematographer on an Alec Baldwin movie than spend time with you dullards
