I'm a big fan of black or deep dark red/purple nail polish.

But I also think they are more ways than one to be "feminine".
I don't know about the black nail polish, but that sig pic is KILLER.

What the fuck's up with the freakin black nail polish lately?!
Am I the only one that finds it disgusting? Where's the class? What happened to the nice feminine colors?
I've made a poll to see what MEN actually think about this new fashion statement and I would imagine most guys would side with me on this one.
Women, I'd really love to read your input on this one as well so feel free to comment.
Colors do not matter to me, as long as woman matches their attire for that specific shade. If they don't, it is a total fashion faux paux. If a woman's nails are manicured to perfection along with her pedicured toes, she is good to go.

I cannot stand a woman with chipped paint on her nails. It is sickening. I may sound harsh, but I am bi and this is a biggie for me. I like to suck on toes and fingers while I fuck.

Black nail polish? Depends on the girl, her personality, her style, etc. Like anything else, depends on the person wearing them. I really could care less, so long as they're maintained. As Angela stated, chipped or unkempt nails are nasty - even if someone has perfect hygiene otherwise, poor nail polish maintenance just looks trashy/dirty. Ladies, if your polish is chipping, just go sans polish or go clear.

Black nail polish, (on man or woman), is very ugly, tasteless, and worse of all - bizarre.

If there is a problem with your nails, like it has been dislocated, or dead, or fungus growth, it turns black.

I think chemo-thearpy turns the nails black too.

Chemo is no fucking fashion statement that's for sure.

Amen. She could be the hottest piece of ass out there. If the nails are not top notch, her cookie is even worse.

It's a trend now a days to have bright/dark colours on your nails.
It looks very feminine and shows that the girl can take a few minutes out of her day to manicure herself to almost perfection.

Personally, I love the black nail polish idea .. but pale girls cannot pull it off with out looking gothic.

Thanks to everyone that participated. I thought the "I hate it" would kick ass on the poll but it looks like I was wrong.
Hmmmm....maybe it's time for me to change my outlook on this black nail polish thing...I highly doubt it though...:)
I do however agree with some of the posts saying that chipped nail polish or un-manicured nails are nasty. I guess I'd rather have the black nail polish in that case.

in my pants, where there's a party
I was thinking about this thread today. It's a funny indicator of how the various subcultures interact in a major metropolis. To the traditionalist, tattoos and black nail polish are repulsive. To the avant-garde, it's totally acceptable. The difference is that the latter faction doesn't rant as loudly about how your guacamole suit and clean haircut makes you repulsive and boring.

(we're just happy to think it momentarily and move on, enjoying life)
