I feel a lot of those complaining didn't watch the video recap to the end. He finished it with comments saying he doesn't expect him to change his public performances and tone it down. He said he doesn't know why he can basically be 2 different people.
When he left, he didn't come out wearing a made in China MAGA hat or the new oversized gold head lapel pin of him that is the new thing and likely to be some kind of grift.
Bill Maher has always been centrist leaning left. He doesn't like a lot of the most extreme views of either party. No one should blindly agree with a party on everything. Life long Republicans and/or Democrats stating a position because it's the official party line makes for poor decisions and policy.
I am am not going to try for a second to hide any disdain for MAGA and their inglorious
leader. Irrespective of any policies he has, he is vile and has brought out an ugliness in people and allowed it to be come a big part of America.
Recent moves have threatened the global economy and even right here in Canada, a supposed close ally. His displays of stupidity have boggled my mind.
Sadly, he is as I have seen quoted a few times "everything I teach my children not to be". You have people, who hate him kissing the ring (again, sadly it is way up his ass). You have hardcore MAGA supporting & adoring him even when that goes against their own self interest. Unlike Bill Maher they have only been exposed to his public image, so that also speaks to their poor character.
I have always liked Bill Maher, though not always agreeing with all his ideas. I strongly suspect he will continue to call out King Cheetos and love him or hate him, Bill will be Bill, mostly honest with a little bit of shtick. Will be curious to see what Jon Stewart will have say about his commentary.
