Legal commentators are already saying that he may win on appeal, because of 3 witnesses (I didn't catch the whole thing)

More interesting is what the sentence will be. I just don't foresee thirty years for a man with vision problems who is almost 81 years-old, I wonder if he will serve any real prison time at all.
Given how dated the allegations are and the sub text that one of the main complainants did not break her relationship with him because - quite clearly - she expected career assistance, this seems fair.

It would be a nightmare for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Corrections. Almost 81 years old, health problems, famous he would be an extremely expensive security nightmare, I bet they argue for house arrest.

The Judge allowed five witnesses to testify as to a pattern of behaviour. The rule is that the probative value of the testimony must outweigh the prejudice to the defendant - it has to show a pattern of behavior not merely that you have committed previous bad acts (which is barred from trial).

I'm sure he will appeal but doubt it will be successful.

I dont think he'll get 30 years obviously, but I dont think he's getting off with probation and community service either.

My guess is 1 to 2 years in jail (or house arrest)

Have to admit, I was out to lunch on this one.

I didn't follow the trial, but I fully expected him to get a pass because some person or persons on the jury just would not vote to find him guilty.

Wow.

As to his sentence, if he goes in to the can for any length of time, he probably gets out in a box.

I totally agree with you. He is really too old to face this all. But if he really did something bad, there should be no sympathy for him.

I have no sympathy whatsoever for him.

Anyone who drugs someone and then has sex with them is a rapist and is the lowest of the low.

I am, however, amazed at Cosby the man verses Cosby's public personae.

Have you been following the legal rulings?

Just curious how the Commonwealth won the "prejudicial vs probative" debate on this one?.... Was it because each witness alleged the odd modus operandi of drugging the vic?

He clearly has a fetish for drug-rape fantasies and wanted to act them out. The major complainant had ongoing relationship with him despite this happening. She was an aspiring actress and my impression was that she was determined to put up with any assault if she could enlist his aid in obtaining stage and screen roles.

I suspect this is how he hung the jury the first time. They suspected the woman's motives and credibility enough not to arrive at an unanimous decision. This time - with the testimony of the 3 similar bad act witnesses - they were able to come to a verdict.

If this is true then it was consentual and changing her mind after not making it in the film industry should not be enough to convict the man.

Cosby is messed up.

But this Constand woman is too. According to articles, she got drugged up and raped. But instead of calling the cops, she brought her parents overs to Cosby's home later on with a family gift???? WTF is with that?
