I hope we'll be in better shape to enjoy it. Can't think of a better way to send out a horrible year.

Dec 7 2020 will be the 250th Birthday of Ludwig van Beethoven. He rejected being part of a Royal Court to become the world's first international rock star.

In a Tokyo shopping mall, no less.

When I was young, I once went to Heiligenstadt where he composed the 6th Symphony. There was a little museum there, where I bought a little bust of him,
that stood on my music system. Two of my prized possessions were the complete set of Beethoven symphonies by Karajan, and by Bruno Walter.

Beethoven was completely deaf when he wrote the 9th Symphony. It was wise of Stanley Kubrick not to include the 1st Movement in A Clockwork Orange. Ludwig Van said he was kick down the door of musical convention. Unfortunately Hitler perverted his quote when he said of the USSR, "we have only to kick down the door and whole rotten structure will collapse" - boy was he wrong.

Ludwig Van was also a practical joke. Had he and Hitler met, he would have held the evil dictator in utter disdain. He would have told him to pull his finger and held his wrist so he couldn't get away.

They have aged. Former TSO Conductor Seiji Ozawa and the legendary Martha Argerich.

There is a cute Asian gal sitting just behind the famous Argerich. At first, I wondered about her purpose. Since the pianist is old like me, maybe to catch her if she collapses at the piano?

However, yes.... oh..... page-turner! Although from the side views it seems Argerich doesn't really look at the music. Maybe just sneak a peak, but she probably knows it all by heart?

Reminds me of my childhood piano days and how I hated to be forced to have lessons from my Grandmother. I had never thought of how you keep up a fast beat and turn pages.! Only now do I appreciate the piano more. I did go on to play a sex - I mean sax and was in the Univ of Minnesota Marching band. In High School also, and our Richfield High school band was the first HS band ever to play at an NFL football halftime. This was like in 1964-5 era!

I also enjoy lots of flash mod videos on YouTube including on with singers at the Eaton Center.

Dave, public school boards made a grave error cutting music education from the curriculum. Music fosters an agile mind with heightened problem solving skills, especially the piano. I hope you eventually thanked your grandmother, she was looking after your future.

She must have been very young when she played this, the tempo is too fast, the impatience of youth.

He was going deaf when he lived in Heiligenstadt, when he wrote the 6th symphony.
