The US has a large Pfizer plant dedicated to their massive order for the vaccine + moderna. Canada's Vax comes from Europe. As for KXL, its their country. if they don't wanna buy our oil its their choice.
It shouldn't be hard for Biden to reach that target. The Americans were averaging just about 900,00 doses per day in the week before he took over and on the 20th they did 1.6 million doses. If California gets it's act together they will be so far ahead of Canada it won't be funny.

I think in the long term the power industry will coalesce towards hydrogen, but it won't happen in Alberta, more likely to happen in Ontario and BC. As a medium for storing power, the efficiency is 70-80%, it is competitive with pumped hydro storage in terms of efficiency. Funny enough, self made billionaire Andrew Forest said a few days ago that hydrogen would be a great green energy alternative for cars as opposed to Tesla, he even insulted Elon. Good publicity, I doubt Elon will respond since he's top dog in the world but you never know.

All I do know is, we should have been on renewables decades ago.
