List the best and worst burgers in the GTA, in your opinion.

Best:
1) Burger's Priest
2) South Street
3) Five Guys
4) Big Smoke
5) Hero Burger

Worst:
1) Burger King
2) A & W
3) McDonald's
4) Lick's
5) Harvey's

I remember when Lick's and Harvey's were good, but I guess now that premium burgers have come to the GTA they just taste bad in comparison.

Johnny's Hamburgers @ Vic Park and Sheppard is definitely one of the best

There's also Tom's in Markham @ Highway 7 and Markham Road.

Burger Priest followed closely by Holy Chuck are the stars in the city IMO.
Missed out on Grindhouse unfortunately.
I find Gourmet Burger and GBK average at best.
South and Hero can do the odd occasional okay burger but usually fail.
The Caledonia on College has a Haggis burger that's great.
Rebel House used to do a really good Lamb burger... haven't had it in ages though.

these gourmet burgers are so soaked in sodium that I have to drink a gallon of water for the rest of the night...keep this in mind when you are picking the best burger

I found nothing impressive about either 5 guys or hero.
Agreed, nothing stellar about those two. Currently Burger Priest is one of the few that is worth driving too. I have fond memories of Harvey's from my youth but have been disappointed in recent years. South St is ok. Incidently, I like my burgers with very few toppings so that I can really taste the meat and I often wonder about those who like the works having almost all burgers tasting similar?

I stopped at Five Guys a couple of months ago and I was disappointed. I was expecting much more. I'll give them one more shot but that's it. What I've really been craving lately is a Fat Bastard burrito!

Their burgers are good, but you should tell them to make sure their fries are crisp. They tend to under cook them. The hind den gem of me is the Master Card Hockey Arena in South Etobicoke, on Kipling, a 1/3 lb burger with good fries and a drink for $9:00 taxes included.

I like Woodies on Lakeshore near Brownsline, all sorts of burgers including Buffalo burrs, albeit a small one, with all sorts of topping you've never seen anywhere.

Burger's Priest is overrated. Now don't get me wrong it's an excellent burger but from the lineups and hype around the place you'd expect the burger to give you a handjob. P&L (Parts & Labour) just opened a few doors west of Priests's Queen West store, now that's the best burger in Toronto right now. Thick, served pink, good variety of burger toppings, good sized bun, I find Priest's bun way too thin and wonder bread-ish and there's a real lack of toppings. They're also too thin and served well done; any burger conoisseur knows that a premium burger shouldn't be cooked any more than medium. Before the food sanitation police chime in, a burger cooked medium is fine if the chef is grinding the meat on premises with clean equipment.

this is the about the third time this same thread has be created but what the heck...I'll give my answers again.

1)Burger Shack (avenue and eglinton)
2)Johnny Burger
3) a place called burger hut at sheppard and leslie used to be right up there but has gone downhill with new owners (I don't know what they are doing but it just doesn't taste the same)
4) Steer-inn at Yonge and major Mackenzie is also pretty good.

I get a craving for licks once in a while if I'm in the mood for a more beefy burger as opposed to a greasy one...lol. Plus, licks have a little kick to them.

Out of all the chain places I think Harvey's is the best. 5 guys is totally over rated and waaaay over priced. Haven't tried holy chuck yet but just opened one kind of close to me. Too bad it wasn't in-and-out burger that decided to invade Toronto as opposed to 5 guys. California burger chain that is great.

My thoughts exactly. I was a little let down by all of the hype.

Agree with Woodies on Lakeshore. Un-hyped due to location so lack of "hipster" cred. Worth the trip.

When you are drunk and hungry, really hungry that meal will leave a lasting impression. You'll end up saying Damn that was good. I do not buy into these gourmet burger crap unless its made out of Kobe beef. .. and everyone gets down on burger king but I prefer it over McDonald's anyday. It's simple no special sauce nor heavily spiced. Wendy's is also good. I have tried hero, 5 guys, burger priest most on this list but for the money and time to get one its not worth it for me. I'll have a bk or Wendy's anytime. McDonald's did a great job in marketing and now as kids the memory or brain washing of my friends asking me which I prefer bk or McDonald's always lead to ridicule when I said bk. So to belong you would say of course McDonald's but secretly you craved bk or Wendy's. .lol.
