Who uses them and are they worth it?
Are the free VPN Services any good?

It really depends on what you need.

If you are looking to mask your traffic at Starbucks or a hotel there are a number of free options that are fine for occasional surfing/email use. On the other hand if you are looking to mask your location (to get a geographically restricted service, for example) or you are consistently on the road working out of hotel rooms I'd recommend ProXPN. Their connection is solid, you get decent bandwidth and you can terminate in a number of countries.

Know very little about VPN usage but was interested in what you posted above.

Got free TunnelBear to experiment with. TunnelBear is now available as a Chrome extension and is easy to use. Left it on most of the day. Didn't know it can be turned off and on as you desire. So after a few hours of browsing and watching some vids, I get a 'warning' saying most of the free monthly TunnelBear data allotment is used up, so I turned TunnelBear off to preserve what is left. My guess is certain browsing will exhaust your data allotment faster. So of course then TunnelBear encourages you to buy a larger data plan and TunnelBear lists them.

Still new to this VPN stuff.

I have been using Express VPN now for almost a year. Never a problem.

I think I paid about $100 for a year. Keeps me safe when I need it.

Saw ExpressVPN is highly rated and found this,

Top 10 Best VPN Services of 2015

Then found this, 5 Best Free VPNs

Where TunnelBear was found.

TOR browser is listed in that group. I have TOR, like it because it has no data caps. Question, is TOR as good as any VPN ?

fyi ... used Hotspot Shield only to find it was almost impossible to get rid of. Not a virus but this thing embedded itself deep into my computer and it would not go away without becoming a serious pain in the ass.

I use tunnel bear and pay for the service.. although I think it is a really bad idea to be telling people which VPN we use especially on here thus enabling rouge clients to use our fave VPN and increasing the risk of sites like this to block a group of IPs for your particular VPN. Brilliant guys fucking brilliant.

Came across a company called Route1 ( T:ROI )
Then seem to offer that type of service. But more secure.
Among ther clients they have intelligence and defense contracts with US government.
Does any one know anything more about them?
