The ban is lifted. So where is the best?
That's in very poor taste. There are few foods that are as cruel. Imagine being dragged by your mouth with a somewhat sharp hook dug into your skin, being hung up, then having your arms and legs chopped off while you're still alive and awake, then being dropped into the ocean so you can either bleed to death or drowned.
bad joke.

Ban lifted, when?

Its one of the most cruel harvests known. The sharks are caught, often in nets, in numbers you can't imagine, the fins are cut off and the remains, many still alive are tossed back into the water to fall into the depths and drown. Fuck anyone with a wire brush who thinks that's ok. The hardest area in recent years is the Galapagos islands.

I take it you're a vegan? Or is it only wrong to eat shark fin soup, but beef, chicken, lamb, goat, turkey , etc etc is ok?

It's the cruelty involved with shark finning that bothers me. As I said, few animals are killed as painfully. I also have a problem ith killing whales and dolphins as well.

I don't eat meat. However it is possible to eat meat and be against excessive cruelty towards animals.

Having said that, I don't think there is a 'best' shark fin soup. People don't order it for the flavour, but to mark some type of event or special occasion.

I care very much where food comes from and how it was prepared, which is why I try the veal whenever it is on the menu, and eat dog when I am in Asia.

Never tried shark and probably won't get many chances so I want to make sure and get a good bowl.

LOL!

Typical blackrock. Dude isn't up to date on the news yet feels that he needs to hold forth on the kindergarten version that anyone living on this planet with TV, internet or newspapers already knows!

FYI, the Judge correctly ruled that this law was outside the jurisdiction of a municipality.

Any culture that so wastefully and cruelly harms creatures as the chinese do in the name of symbolism should be ashamed of themselves. Or simply shamed.

I'd like to see someone organize roving flash mobs to protest outside of any of these barbaric restaurants and stores that sell shark fins. Or how about interrupting the chinese weddings where this show off soup is served. Ruin their fucking weddings!
Gee, I actually haven't heard about nor could I find it, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen, nor that it is barbaric.

You try way too had. You must be trying to overcompensate for something.

Only semi-worthwhile anti-shark fin comment in any of the threads thus far, even if it's only one part of an overall campaign.

"Be the change you wish to see in the world." Don't leave it to out-of-their-depths city politicians to do the work.

Organize. Pressurize. Politicize. Advertize. (Yeah I know, but had to stick with the -ize theme.)
