I hardly use a cell phone so I tried the cheap phone from 7-11, turns out is still costs about 40$ a month. What are the best plans for someone that hardly uses a cell phone. I might as well get phone, text, internet, everything.

$20 a month unlimited talk and incoming tex. I have the $35. plan and and prepay for several months in advance. Chatr has really good reception, signal strength and reliability. In the 3 years that I have been with them I have never had a dropped call or been in a area of the city that I could not get reception, buildings, basements, malls are no problem. And I only have a iPhone 4, nothing special.

talk and text plans are cheap. but if you want data (internet) the carriers are really bending you over these days.

If you hardly use it, why are you paying so much? Are you on a monthly plan? I am with 7-11 and pay only for what I use, as prepaid, not on a monthly plan.

Yeah for 7-11 and if you're barely using your phone, I'm not sure how you're paying $40/mnth. Speakout 7-11 is $25 on prepaid, and that $25 is valid for 365 days before it expires. Almost every other carrier I know of will expire your prepaid in 30 days.

You must have done something wrong and enrolled in a monthly plan and/or enabled data (extra $10/month) either when activating on line or through some misunderstanding with a CSR over the phone. Otherwise it would be .25/minute for calls and .10 per text.
