Problem with home made pizza is the oven... Mine does not go over 550f... It still makes good pizza but I would like to cook it at around 7-800f.

Seriously thinking about buying a small pizza oven like https://www.braultetmartineau.com/e...biQ6v-YxOwjiDW0swUBoCgJAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I purchased a baking steel, also I have the ovens below for home use.

The Ooni you listed is also a good choice, I believe you can purchase that model for $499. Budget options are available for pizza ovens now.

I can also bake pizzas at 900F+ when using a biscotto.

I like the Dr. Oetker Speciale that is topped with mozzarella & Edam cheese, salami, mushrooms, ham & pepperoni. I then add some chopped up kalamata olives and dried spices (basil, oregano, red pepper flakes) and finely grated Parmesan. Into the oven on a pizza tray..round one with all the holes in it. Have some spicy oil to drizzle over it when it comes out. I find it very, very good this way especially when it goes on sale at the independent grocer for $2.99.

I would choose home made pizza, the dough is very easy to make. My experience taste is better, also cost is lower compared to take out.
Been there, done that. It takes a very long time to make, as you have to wait for the dough to rest.

It’s also very messy. To top it all off, if you add the cost of the toppings and cheese, it’s actually very expensive to make. And worst of all is having to do the dishes.

In terms of taste, it’s not worth the extra time and money, at least for me. I will make pizza occasionally though, as it can be fun, But there are times when I just want something quick without all the hassle. Frozen pizza is perfect for this

I ferment ahead of time, use when needed and freeze the left over dough. There are many approaches for fermentation, quick and slow. I purchase quality ingredients and cost me less per pizza.

I know there are pizzerias that have vacuumed sealed pies available.

Edit: I haven‘t tried, maybe this.

Same as making bread dough, nothing scientific about the process.

IMO, they all suck, but Dr. Oetker is probably the best. I would never eat them but I used to feed them to my kids when they were young. I did taste them and felt guilty feeding it to them, but hey, I was a busy parent!

So far the results are very interesting. It seems like there are only two good frozen pizzas. Delicious rising crust, and Dr. Oetkers

Remember to NOT follow the instructions on the pizza box. Always crank up your oven to the hottest settting (above 600 F) and cook for less time (5-10 minutes). Use a pizza stone if you can.

I just use a pizza stone in my gas oven and for the Weber charcoal kettle grill. Works like a charm, especially on the kettle grill as you can toss in some wood chunks for flavoring.

Lol!

One of the first times I made pizza I remember the amount of work it took, making the dough and waiting for it to rise, making homemade sauce, cutting all of the veggies/meats, etc. and then the mountain of dishes...

Now it is fairly simple - Make a quick pizza dough in 15 minutes, bottled pizza sauce and whatever veggies/meats you want and spices. With practice you only have to cut a small amount as there is not much on a pizza. My fav fast one is a simple mozzarella and pepperoni special with fresh basil leaves.

This is why I never understand when someone starts one of these threads like "best burger joint in Toronto?", there's always at least one TERB member will inevitably post "the best hamburger is the one I make at home, yada, yada, yada".

We all know this for fuck sakes. If we wanted to know how to make a hamburger, the thread would be title "best hamburger recipe".

It happens in everyone of these threads.

Yes they do all suck, but once in a while I pick up a few of the "ristorante" ones. They're more of think crust style. They're not bad for a snack
