James Brown & The Famous Flames - 1964, at a sports field house at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Basically the "Live At The Apollo" set, with an extended version of "Please, Please, Please"! My friends and I were the only white guys in the large audience, but nobody there seemed to care...

Second best - Jimi Hendrix & The Band Of Gypsies at the Fillmore East in NYC, Jan. 1, 1970. Was recorded along with the Dec. 31/69 performance and released as an LP.

Third best - Elvis Costello & The Attractions at the Theatre St. Denis in Montreal April 30, 1978, not long after the release of his first album.

Without a doubt March 1991 - U2 at Maple Leaf Gardens for their Achtung Baby concert. They were so incredible, I could have cried.

Honorable mention, very honorable mention, Roger Waters (the Wall and US and them). Rolling Stones - Voodoo Lounge tour at the CNE where I watched a semicomitose Dan Akroyd watch the show 20 feet away in some tent on the field along with Mike Myers hamming it up with the crowd.

Maiden has been on my bucket list of shows to see for quite a while. Apparently their shows are epic.
First time I saw maiden was at the government venue in the 90s as a teenager. Most of my friends were into rap, punk rock and bands like korn and limp biz kit, but still I went to see them and was an awesome show. I was probably one of the youngest dudes there still didn’t care because Iron Maiden was just pure awesome.

You were at the Band of Gypsies concert? You saw God.
Was standing at a urinal at the cinema by Tottenham Court Road Underground station in 1987 just having come out of an afternoon matinee of Blue Velvet starring Dennis Hopper, when a guy about my height in a Spanish wide brimmed hat stood himself at the next stall. Noticed it was Elvis Costello. Didn't exchange words. " The News"Huey Lewis's group were the session band on Elvis's first album. The Attractions weren't considered up to snuff or studio ready.
Best concert? probably Aerosmith Massey Hall 1974 Toys in the Attic tour.

I can`t decide... Led Zep at the Pontiac Silverdome in `77, Clapton at MLG, an evening of nothing but the Blues, Jimmy Vaughn & the Fabulous Thunderbirds opened. Possibly the best was The Who at the Silverdome Dec. 7 1979. That was 4 days after 11 people were killed in Cincinatti from a screw up by the organizers. The whole place was general admission and they opened the doors about 4 hours early as thousands of us waited outside in a sleet storm. The crowd surged forward and some of my steps were probably 4 feet long. I held onto my girlfriends hand and thought I would crush it. We ended up very close to the stage on the floor, no seats, 75000 in attendance. By the time we got home we`d been up for about 28 hours.

Three from my youth that stand out.

Queen's wall of lights, News of the World, show and Yes's concert in The Round. Only Bill Bruford was missing. Also Willie Dixon and the Chicago Blues All-Stars at the El Mocambo.

Pearl Jam in Seattle in 98. They put on a hell of a show for the home crowd, always first stop every tour. Played 30 or 35 songs, I thought it would never end and didn't want it to.

Deep Purple in 72, Uriah Heep in 72 ..... both awesome. Showing my age .....
